door draft roll

I am finally getting around to makin some draft rolls to put under my doors to the entry to keep out the cold air, what is the best material to stuff it with? I've seen some vinyl ones that are kind of figure 8 shaped with a roll on each side, has anyone tried this? I was just going to make a snake shape and wedge it under but wondering if there are any better ides out there?

I've made two which are sort of figure 8 shaped as you described. I used old t-shirts to make them and they work fine.

All you need to do is cut fabric the width of your door and roughly about 4ft long depending on how thick your fabric is. then roll up each end towards the middle until you have a gap about as wide as your door is thick. I hand sewed thought the end of each rolled up bit to secure the rolls and stuck it under the door. The first one I did has been on our living room door for about 3 years and showing no signs of falling apart!

Or you can buy some pieces of pipe insulation and sew a casing for those to sit either side of the door. There is a photo tute for that here

I made a coouple outta extra fleece I had & filled them w/sand. They work great, but they get pushed up to the inside of the door so you cant have them working so to speak if no ones home. I wanna make some that have a thinner pool noodle on both sides.
