X-posted in Breastfeeding Challenges
My cousin has a 3 month old who isn't napping during the day, 20 min nap here and there, and is wanting to nurse every hour.
She is looking for solutions. She is getting, formula and pablum and block feedings as suggestions from folks on Facebook.
I was under the impression at this is typical as a sign of a growth spurt and this is what I said.... Am I wrong or does this really just sound like a growth spurt?
She is a first time mom.
I wouldn't jump to blaming your milk production, or content right away. I would second A on both her comments. Babies nurse more frequently when they are hitting a growth spurt. At 3 months she is right on cue for a growth spurt.
Also, when you start supplementing formula there is the sticky spiral to losing your supply. The best way to up your supply is to nurse your baby. Even pumping doesn't equal K eating right from you.

Feeding babies solids before at least 4 months isn't advised anymore because their intestines are mature enough to process them.
This has really interesting information about fore-milk and hind-milk composition.

E and I nursed right up to a year. I think we could have gone longer, really, if I could have stood it. We couldn't work out the Don't Bite Mommy thing. I even tried the mean things.
Anyway, schedule or not to schedule is totally a personal thing. I fed E on demand and she regulated herself and slept through the night and had 2 naps from a pretty young age. But every baby is different.
As for the "regular growth spurts" from here on out.they are at 6 months and 9 months, and then anywhere in-between.
Sorry this is soooo long, I started a refresher course for myself (hahaha) since baby boy should be here soon.
Take care!!!
