ok, your right, i was thinking of dr Luff when you said hoffman. He is more natural minded??
I did send a email to the office of hopf and beckman to see if they are ok with my choices. They have a new OB.GYN female dr coming in august so Im thinking I might try her. Im still waiting to hear back from them.

I just did this. I started off DS's pregnancy with a OB group, but once they wanted to schedule a rc/s I decided against going back. I faxed a release of medical records to them (for my MW). I guess they got the idea.

Then when DS was 6 weeks, I wanted to get back on BC, so I went back to them. They seemed a bit shocked that I'd had the baby at home with a MW, but didn't say anything rude to me. I just answered their questions matter-of-factly, got my BC, and went about my business.

No hard feelings, they just weren't what I was looking for at the time.

Yes Hoffman is natural. I emailed a friend to ask her if she recommends anyone. She's had 3 homebirths (one with hospital transfer ) with your midwife.

I switched OB's mid pregnancy before I found a midwife. I called and canceled my next appointment, then never called to reschedule.

I second the idea of finding a GYN that doesn't handle births-it's surprising how many there are.

My former OB's practice had a midwife, but she only handled well woman care and prenatal appointments, as she was barred from attending births because of local hospital policy. That might be another option to look for.

My friend recommended Gray!! She said thats who her OB/GYN was when she was homebirthing. Hoffman was her neighbor with her first two births and he was fine with it.

ok this is OT. My ILS are in Evansville and my MIL use to be a LD nurse. I've heard all the horror stories of 33% cs rates. Then the fear mongering from MIL when we planned our last homebirth. I'm not familiar w/ any of the OBs, except I've heard the name gray before, can't say anything one way or the other thought, so no help there. But I do understand that it is a place that isn't very crunchy and a definite lack of MWs. It is the main reason we chose not to move back there.
I can say that dual care may be an option. Just don't tell your OB your plans. Your MW should do your postpartum but if you feel that going to an OB for postpartum is what you need to do then, 'we just didn't make it to the hospital in time' oops. I hate that you have to sneak around but sometime full disclosure isn't in your best interest. They operate that way alot just by omitting stuff to get your compliance.
