I really love the stories I have heard using this and for my circumstances this second labor/birth I think it will be ideal. HOWEVER which method/program is best?
So far I have seen two sites.
http://www.hypnobabies.com/
http://www.hypnobirthing.com/

Is there a difference? One better or worse??? I would love some help I am 17 weeks and really want to order this soon. Thank you!

I am doing hypnobabies and I really really like it. From what I understand, with hypnobirthing you can't move around because you are more in a trance. Hypnobabies has what they call "eyes open hypnosis" where you can move around and talk while still being deeply relaxed and under hypnotic anesthesia. This is my first baby so I can't tell you how well it worked but I'm starting my fifth week of doing it and I feel super confident and relaxed about giving birth. I'm actually looking forward to the experience.

i am doing hypnobabies. i really love it. i did lots of research to decide between the two, and from what i heard, you can move around more with hypnobabies. also, i heard that hypnobirthing is really more "new age-y" than hypnobabies. so, i went with hypnobabies and i'm glad i did. it's so relaxing and helpful and the workbook is like a complete pregnancy education course. it has info on nutrition, exercise, perineal massage, etc...

good luck

if you google hypnobabies vs. hypnobirthing you can get a lot of information comparing the two

In all my research it seemed hypnobabies provided a more comfortable birthing. I've chosen that program and am due any day now. Watch for my birth story!

http://www.birthnaturally.org/hypnobirthing.htm

This is a link to a friend of mine who used to teach Hypnobirthing and now teaches Hypnobabies. She has used both methods for birthing her children. It explains why she switched.

FTR, I use Hypnobabies since that's what I heard of first when I was pregnant with DD, but now that I know, I'm glad I found it first.

I used Hypnobabies with my 2nd and I am so glad I did. My 1st sons labor was 58 hours long and I was in such discomfort and was so fatigued and was still only a cm dilated after 50+ hours...it was crazy!

2nd son, after 14 hours of comfort, I stopped by my doctors as per her request to find I was 9cm and fully effaced. My son was born 30 minutes later.

I look forward to doing the HB again with this baby. My big lesson that I learned is to not stop with the CDs once you get to the pushing stage...I totally forgot about my MP3 player and had a bit of a setback emotionally that I know wouldn't had happened had I kept the earphones in thru to the end.

Excellent program...looking for an even shorter labor this time!

I'm using hypnobirthing...my only complaint is in the CD, she says one or two things that don't make sense to me and I'll get off track rationalizing it and not concentrating

I bought the hypnobirthing book (with the CD) from amazon for about $13. I also downloaded the hypnobabies CD's. I read the hypnobirthing book and liked it, but I'm also getting a lot out of listening to the hypnobabies CD's!

I really, really like the hypnobabies program. I just had the audio tracks but bought the full homestudy program and I'm so glad I did. I'm preparing for my 3rd birth and 2nd homebirth - so I don't really need the birth information, but I really love the hypnosis information. It's really helpful to have the workbooks point out that it's totally okay to feel a certain way or not feel anything. I think without the books, I probably wouldn't have gotten as much from the program because I'd spend too much time in my head over analyzing the whole program. I honestly can't wait for my easy and comfortable birthing time to begin.

Just wanted to pipe in here. I used hypnobirthing for my first birth and hypnobabies for my second. I really like both programs. I think the hypnobabies program is a more complete program for two reasons. The first is that it includes the childbirth education portion instead of just hypnosis instruction. I don't agree with everything she says, but it is a really inclusive program, and that is nice. The second is that the hypnosis program is incredibly more complex and thorough.

I would like to say, though, that I think the complexity of the hypnosis program is a double edged sword. It takes a significant time commitment to get good at it. I'd already had one successful birth using hypnosis but when my second DD was born, I never felt I was "good enough" at hypnosis to use the eyes open part of it even though I practiced a LOT. I still had a great birth using hypnosis, but it wasn't all that, you know? Because of this, I am inclined to think that the hypnobirthing program is EASIER to learn and feel really confident about, especially if you don't have a ton of time to put into it.

Having said that, I did choose hypnobabies again for this birth because I think that even if I can't master everything, I like having a larger arsenal of tools to use during the preparation and birth.

I loved hypnobabies. I think I had a pretty easy first birth using it. I didn't stress too much about using it right, didn't even use the CD during pushing like they tell you to (I already had a very supportive birth team, might be more important to shut out a different environment), and I think it did wonders. I did listen to the CDs pretty much daily (slept through most, but that's okay) and tried to do it all, although practicing the light switch and all that was hard as I was teaching full time right up til the birth. I'll be using it again when we have #2.
