Amazing Thrift Store find!

I have been slowly trying to switch over our cookware to get rid of our older teflon pots/skillets.

I have been moooning over le creuset - especially their large dutch ovens and etc. you know the ones that cost like an arm & a leg

This weekend we're cruising goodwill and what do I find - a le creuset pot. its HUGE for .... $14.99 no defects, cracks in the enamel or anything except for normal wear/tear at the bottom.

Needless to say I ran with that pot to the checkout, and we also found a food dehydrator (ronco) which I am moderately thrilled with (after reading reviews )

DH was puzzled by my thrill and zeal in finding this pot. So I had to come & share here.

I have literially dreamed of wandering into a garage sale and getting a whole set (the enamaled cast iron) of la creuset.

Is it cast iron or steel?

I did break down and buy at Tuesday Morning a new enamel on steel teakettle to replace this awful teakettle with a wavy super warped bottom. It red and I love it.

Awesome find. You need to take your DH to Williams Sonoma and then wait until he finds your pot and sees their price. Then he'll be impressed.

DH kept saying I started to look a bit like "Gollum" with my "precious".

I "think" its cast iron as she is hefty lady, and its a pretty cobalt blue. I'm trying to search for what it might be as all I can go on is the giant F on the lid & bottom. So I'm assuming its from the f series...

mnnice Oooh a new teakettle and red to boot! That sounds lovely. I will have to take DH to a williams-sonoma, but I'll have to give him instructions I am not to _buy_ anything and to remind me constantly of that. W/S, sur la table, restaurant supply... are all my weaknesses

Kitchen tools, pots and pans are my totally my weaknesses as well.

My DH wonders about some of my thrifting finds sometimes too, but he's a pretty avid cook too and would totally appreciate your current find.

That is totally awesome! I once found a set of le crueset nesting oval orange casserole pans at a yard sale --5 or 6 of them i think, for $3! I thought that meant they were each $3, but nope! $3 for the set! I don't use them very much, but I still feel happy about that find!

yay for awesome thrifting finds!!!

Awesome! I keep hoping to find some too. I did find regular cast iron dutch oven for $47 I kept going. I'm pretty sure Wal-Mart sells lodge for $35-ish! I have found some great stuf though.

I think that is awesome. If I could only keep one pot, it would me my Le Creuset dutch oven. You can cook ANYTHING in there.

Husbands don't always understand.....

if my husband only knew how much I have saved our family through thrift store scores!!

Make it basic for him -- find a link to what it usually is new online and show him so he can do the math.

I have to warn people, once you get into thrifting, it kind of ruins you for buying new. Friends will brag that they found a pair or toddler jeans in the mall for "only sixteen dollars" and I'm thinking I rarely pay more than $4 an item even in consignment shops.

WooHoo - Congrats!

Fantastic!!!!!!!

We stumbled upon an All Clad soup pot recently...for free. Dh didn't understand my joy until I pointed out that it was a $200 pot. He still wrinkled his brow and said "Huh." I don't think he knew they were that expensive.

I am so excited for you!
