That's awesome! I felt the same way when I found my orange oval one for $4 at our local thrift shop. It was the smaller size and well loved but still...$4! My dh gets me though because he does the same little dance in the thrift store when he finds something awesome.

Congratulations! I call my kitchen appliances my "toys" and that's exactly what they are. Dd cannot understand this, but she sees my glee. I got my Le Creuset from a newspaper ad. It was a husband saying he had to sell his brand new set, because his wife was just diagnosed with hemachromatosis. I'm a medical transcriptionist, so I instantly knew what that meant and that he had to get rid of those pots! It's excess storage of iron in the blood, BTW, and the doc said even though the pans are enamel-coated, his wife still couldn't take the chance of using iron-based cookware. The poor man seemed to really want to talk about his wife's condition and I'm ashamed to say, I was a bit less than my usual sympathetic self. I just wanted to scream "where do you live? I'll be there in 10 minutes." Le Creuset=kitchen to me now. That and my Cuisinart ice cream maker, my flour mill, my dehydrator, immersion blender...

This thread makes me want to run out to the thrift stores SO BAD! But I'm doing the February No-Spend Challenge, so I'm trying to resist. This is good incentive for me to try dumpster diving again!

*wave* I'm in the no-spend challenge too. That was probably the one time I can go into a thrift store without breaking our monthly budget for target/NFC etc...

Now I'll have to wait until next month for the "floating shelves" I want to get for my house

This thread makes me want to go thrift shopping! I have a medium sized le creuset dutch oven and the tea kettle that I've received as gifts and I loooove them. I would totally love to find one of the big dutch ovens at a thrift store LOL! I think getting something awesome like that for SO cheap always makes it even better!

OP, maybe they got rid of it because it no longer matched their kitchen. I know some folks who would do that.

I found an orange oval one at the thrift store a few years back, love that pot, it's a keeper for sure.

Sometimes I dream at night about scoring at the thrift store and I almost always then visualize on my way to the store, somes I find what I'm looking for, sometimes it takes more than a year to find the "item" but it's always such a thrill to hunt and find.

Way to go on your new pot
