Hi I'm new here, would like to join this thread.
I have two girls DD1 3 1/2 and my little one DD2 6 months.
I work as a nurse part-time and my husband is a teacher, so we have limited income.
Goal to pay off cc and do some home improvement this spring.
How I plan to get there is become more conscious of spending.
KEY:
Necessary spending
No spending

4. $34 on groceries
5. $14.45- furnace filter & bread
6. We too are buried under snow, but I've been pricing out winter boots for the kidlets for next year. Probably won't buy them today, might tomorrow though...
7. Haven't bought boots yet, watched the Super Bowl at my parents and brought homemade chili instead of buying something at the store.
8. Went grocery shopping before our next big storm hits today- stuck to the list. $168.35- Costco, $56.65- Giant. (but it's really b/c we have an eating out budget, I just didn't want to use it yet) $23 ate out at McD b/c we were stuck in traffic for over an hour and it pushed back our schedule
9. I'm putting this here preemptively b/c we're getting snow this afternoon & I don't anticipate going anywhere. Don't leave the house, don't spend $$$
10. More snow here, won't be leaving the house again.
11. $105.84- Mountain Rose Herbs
12. Left for a long weekend (4hr trip) at the ILs. $9.18 2 Starbucks coffees for the trip, $5 at Dunkin Donuts 3/4 of the way through the trip for coffee for DH and donuts for the kids
13. $20.89 DH bought groceries b/c he didn't like his mom's lunch options
14. $14 at local bagel shop (we actually budgeted for this food trip, the bagels are SOOO good) $197.98 at Target for new travel DVD player which we determined we needed but wasn't budgeted for, and other random cr@p
15. $5 at Dunkin Donuts for the kids going home, $22.73 at Burger King for lunch (we left earlier than planned, we were supposed to eat lunch at MIL's but they we needed to beat a snow storm home), $30 take out pizza for dinner.
16.
17.
18.
19.
20. and We went to Home Depot to pick up some things and we ended up picking up some extra stuff. Most of it was covered by our budget, but I think we overspent by about $40. We also got McD ($23) for dinner. I had a meal plan, but we got home too late to make dinner .
21.
22. I broke our iron and it's a necessity for us. DH stopped on his way home and picked up a new one, along w/ some ice cream to cheer me up from a bad day, and a few other things. $35
23. DH has informed me that the iron he got last night sucks and he's stopping to get a new one again. This happened b/c he tried to take the cheap way out w/ the iron last night, even though I asked him not to. *sigh* DH bought an iron that he didn't look in the box of, and he doesn't like it, so it will be returned. The cheap iron is working for the interim, although I have to get up earlier and help DH iron his clothes b/c the iron gives him fits
24.
25. $10 for my group Bible study materials

Considering that it is something used daily in our house, I don't have a problem buying a quality iron (as long as I don't drop it again) Also ended up picking up a piece of sports equipment DH has been looking for, 2 movies the kids have been asking for (they were $4.75/ a piece), and a few other miscellaneous things.
28. Putting this here preemptively. I don't foresee spending any money b/c we're not going anywhere and are spending the day doing a major straightening up.

$170 total this month on fast food, plus whatever I spent in cash (not much). At least I'm not addicted to cocaine, I'm sure that would be much pricier

Income exceeded expenses this month, so I'm happy! I'm going to pad my EF this month instead of paying extra on the mortgage.
