If this isnt the best forum please feel free to move it.

I am replacing our entire cookware this yr. We have had a nicer set but it does have a non stick coating. now I know better but financially couldnt afford to really replace them until now.

So I have been looking at doing enameled cast iron cookware. I've seen a few lines and like them but wanted to know if they are a safe choice?

Should there be anything I should worry about? I read somewhere about some concerns about enameled cast iron cookware but dont remember what it was. I would prefer enameled cast iron over plain cast iron as it seems like it would be easier to clean.

Im looking at doing a large stock pot, smaller pot (like a roaster) and several other pieces (12 inch and chicken fryer type skillets) and a square grilling pan.

I really like my enameled cast iron pieces. I haven't heard anything about them not being safe-- but we mostly cook in un-enameled cast iron, because that's what we have. The Le Creuset pieces I have are definitely much easier to clean, though!

I think enamel is fairly un-reactive, and that's why it's a good choice for cooking.
