Running right past February - Page 56

A friend of mine ran at work ran in that relay last year. Two legs. One was in the middle of the night across a crazy mtn. pass bridge. You girls have fun and be careful.

I'm so excited about this that I couldn't fall back to sleep after 4:45 so I feel like this but a little will smooth it all out.
Gaye, how about you? Or is your school scheduel too uncertain? Lofty? I know it's during your NY time but I think JetBlue flys over here. And you know you want to visit anyway! Maybe Monikita would consider it, she's relatively close. CFG? There are so many mamas that run on this island I'm sure I could fill in the blanks for any legs we're missing.

That relay sounds awesome. Sometimes I really miss the PNW...

Today is a rest day. I've ran the past three days in a row, twice with DD. Yesterday was a lot better than our initial run attempt. We did about 2 miles of 1minute run/1minute walk. Overall, she did really good and didn't whine much.

I have been reading along. I had a bunch of housework to do yesterday, because the exterminator was coming. I got a 3 mile run in the morning. Then, in the evening went to Tri Class. We were doing brick work. So, I started with a 20 minute run at "hard" effort. I decided to do it on the treadmill, so I would be running straight (hard runs on the tiny, indoor track are tough on my hips). Anyway, I did 5 minutes at 6.0mph, and increased by .2 every 5 minutes, so I finished at 6.8! It was hard, but definitely doable! I'm excited to see me getting faster! We followed that with a hard 20 minute bike! Phew! I'm supposed to run 3 today. I'm going to take it pretty easy, though!

I cheated and did 3 miles on the TM this morning. I am paying lots of attention to my foot today and tomorrow but I had to do it for sanity's sake. I tididn't hurt but my body feels unbalanced after the effort. Now, I plan to foam roll, pay real attention to the kiddos and head out to a friend's for what I hope is not a stressful lunch. I think 'oy' is the word I am looking for.

Oh My Word!! SS you are the MOST amazing person ever!!!

I came home last night to find dd in the bathroom with dh getting her changed. She's white as a ghost and had puked all over her brother in bed. Fortunately, I was able to pull the soiled blankets away and he still had one clean blanket and none had actually hit his body. So cleaning up a mess literally right as I walked in the house after work (and a really sad last session). So get my little lady all cleaned up, get the little man who's passed out throughout this cleaned up. Come into the kitchen and see this GINORMOUS box! GINORMOUS! And the first thing I see? This gorgeous fire engine red wool hat to run in!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT! That would've been plenty right there and I cannot wait to give it a shot! But then, I take the hat out and there is so much stuff that I am literally overwhelmed and speechless. Sunscreen, lotions, sport wash (I soooo need this!!), chapsticks, fueling options...and many many many of all of these and more! Good grief and then the poem. She wrote a poem!! I actually found my red duck tape (yes, I have red duck tape) and put it on my fridge. I used tape because anything held by magnet could disappear. And my training hasn't really amped up yet, and I'm going to really need that poem. I seriously cannot thank you enough. I really wish I had some amazing words to show just how much I needed and appreciated your package. Now, I have some plans for my own. You gave me a lot of good ideas!

PS I think ds is going to follow soon. He's crying over the most minuscule infraction. And his feelings were really hurt when dd told him she puked on him

I might seriously be interested in that relay if the rest of you are doing it for reals. Who's sincerely interested??? I need to check my calendar after work but will look into airfare rates today.

BBM - What was the poem?!!!
BBM awesome! lots of wonderful ideas for me to use, too

So this relay... I am really interested! I know nothing about it but I would seriously consider flying someplace to run a dingo relay.

to those who have lost their mojos. Ihave come down with a cold and I am a little nervous that I won't be able to train properly this next week or so - as my half marathon is coming up.

All is good with my folks, except I wish they didn't drink as much as they do, and I wish my mum wouldn't smoke (though she is making such an effort to really really cut down and only smoked outside, of course). It's like having 2 teenagers come to stay and my dad is almost 85

They're at home with ds now I'm only in the office for a couple of hours but, still, a little nervous about it all!

xx

If it was the WA one, that crazy bridge would be the best part of the whole darn thing. Runner 12 gets to do it for those that want to arm wrestle for it

I would SO love to do a dingo relay, but I doubt if I could this year.

I still have the plague. I'm worried it might actually be strep throat, so I made a doctors appointment for later today. I couldn't sleep last night, it hurt so bad. I ended up taking some vicodin just to get some sleep, after advil and tylenol pm didn't work at all.

So, no running AGAIN today, looks like. Today is supposed to be my helping day at DS's school, too, but luckily XH is in town and said he could do it. This just blows.

That bridge would be cool, but I think the dingo who comes the farthest gets to have first pick at the legs. Memiles, you and I could run that any old time.

Oh, I'm going to be one of the ones arm wrestling for one of the wussy legs unless things change with my own leg pretty quickly.

The good news is that I printed the training schedule and it would be a month before I'd really need to do anything.

Do you think it would be a bit nutty to fly all the way from Maine? I would be even more inclined if I got to run the bridge

If you fly in from Maine, I think your chances of getting to run the bridge are pretty high. And we'd never call you nutty!

I want to fly from Massachusetts to do it. It just looks so fun! But probably unlikely.
Yep, that was the bridge. She was training while we were training for San Fran.

1 hour elliptical this AM because the TMs were all full.

P.S. It's March.
It's not nutty! I'm considering flying from Maryland.
well, i would definitely be in - i am pretty sure i can find some cheap flights to seattle.

memiles/plady - the key is to wrangle 3 volunteers. these would be people who lurve you enough to potentially be standing out in the middle of nowhere at 2am handing people water with no guarantee of seeing you. i've volunteered for a co-worker's hood-to-coast team and it was fun, but you have to be flexible and willing to roll with it! there is a opt-out of the vol. requirement for a fee, not sure how much.

i could do some t-shirts for us!

oh and here is a review from racevine on the ragnar held in WI last year:
