constipation and solid foods

9.5 mo old DD just discovered her love for solid foods. (She's still BF but also eating more solids at her own request) But she has been getting more and more constipated. She's been going a week sometimes between poops and when she does poop is is really "formed" and hard---Like rabbit pellets. So different than EBF poop!

Last night she couldn't sleep she was so uncomfortable. This morning we held her on the potty and she did like 6 huge very firm poops---She cried the whole time, it must have hurt. They were BIG! Like small adult size...

What are some good dietary changes I can do to help her? I might be doing them already but please give me your lists of what to do and not do for constipation so I can see if there is anything else I can try.

This morning she ate (other than BM): pears and peaches mixed with 1 tbsp yogurt and 1/2 tsp flaxseed that I ground and stored in the fridge so it would stay good. I tried to give her extra water but she's not that into water and can't figure out the sippy yet.

But I'm stuck on more meal ideas.

I don't know how to do prunes but I think I will go buy some organic prune juice? How much to give?

We dice up prunes for DD. I actually cut them up with scissors most of the time. She loves them and they help keep things moving. We tried prune baby food, but DD rejects the spoon and the puree seems a little more dramatic when it works its way through the body. The diced prunes seem a little more gentle.
