leaky baby bum

my son is about 6 weeks old now and we try to have some diaper free time every day. however, i would like to have more, but he is very leaky from the back end. every diaper, wet or dry, has a little spot of poop juice. i hesitate to just lay him down anywhere or try crotchless pants because it seems inevitable that i will have to clean up whether we have miss or not. i have worn him in a wrap sling without a diaper and he never goes in there, but i probably missed the leakage spot on the sling.

for those of you who have dealt with this (i know i can't be the only one) i would appreciate some tips on dealing with this so that we can have some more casual diaper free time. thanks!

We dealt with this for several months, I can't remember how many, maybe 3 or 4. DD tended not to go when she was being held or worn, so you may not actually have spots on your sling. Any diaper free time, you just have to assume that it whatever he's on could get poop on it. We used diaper back-up full time, and the best tip we found was that you can refold prefolds the other way when you get a spot of poop on them to recycle them so you're not doing as much laundry.

thanks

thank you for the tips. one question though, do you consider this pooping? i was thinking it was just a little leak he had no control over. i will use that tip with my prefolds. i'm washing lots of barely dirty diapers.
