Homeschooling article in Time

I just read this article about the German family who fled Germany to homeschool their children. I have heard of them before, but it was interesting to see the follow-up.

I don't know why...maybe because I worry about MY rights to homeschool, but this Time Magazine article calling homeschooling "A subwhat controversial american practice" just soooo got my goat.

This is an article in Time Magazine and they're pulling out the socialization card? SERIOUSLY? As someone who has worked for the mainstream media, I'm appalled.

When I see articles like these, it worries me that someone who is in power will look at homeschooling and go "Gee, those Germans have it right. Why do we let people homeschool when we have plenty of 'perfectly good' schools?"

ARGH!

Although "someone in power" is not enough to be able to make that decision. All heck would break loose from the get-go. We're coming from a very different perspective and history here. - Lillian

Just anytime it comes up in the news...and usually it is something negative... my heart jumps to my throat. Thank you for your words, as usual!!

thanks for posting that article. I can't imagine living in a place where I didn't have the choice to homeschool.

That article did mention the pro-homeschool argument as well. I didn't think it was that incriminating.
