DS (27months) has been on xopenex for a week. For the 2nd time, he's wheezing due to a cold. We go to different Dr's that are at the same practice, because we recently moved here and I haven't found one I feel really comfortable with. A week ago, the Dr that saw him said to do do xopenex for a week, and then come back in a week. Ds is doing better, coughing less, but he's still got congestion in his face/nose and just to make sure he didn't end up with pneumonia, I brought him in today to see a different Dr. This one, said to halve the xopenex dosage in half due to fast heart rate, and then to do 4 days of oral prednisone. I asked him what the side effects were and he said from 4 days, nothing.
I'm wondering, should I
1- just do the prednisone
2- wait, and continue with the xopenex
3- take him back to see a 3rd Dr (who actually seems the best so far)

WWYD? I don't know very much about prednisone, except that it's a steroid...I'll go google it now. Any experiences with it? Ds is much better...is it really necessary to do a steroid? And for 4 days?
