When did your preemie walk? - Page 2

Sbrinton,

Our little man will be 18 mos (15 mos. adjusted) next Sunday and he still cannot walk or talk. He only recently learned to sit up at around 15 mos. actual and he can hold his own bottle. He gets around by crawling (very fast) and he can go up and down the stairs. He pulls up to a standing position very easily, but still wobbles. He has only recently started to lunge himself at us from a standing position, but has not taken that first step. If we try to help him walk, he usually drops to his knees. He started daycare this week (ages 18 mos to 2.5 years) and we're hoping he'll watch and learn from the other kids. Obviously, they are all walking (and running). It is clear that he is developmentally behind, but he is, by far, the youngest in the class, 4 mos. (adjusted) younger than the next child. He cannot drink from a sippy cup yet, but he knows how to use a straw. Stay positive!

My two were 32 weekers and walked at   14 months and 18 months actual..

DD2 had PT later for gross motor delays-- she always still hits the milestones, just 3-9 months late for gross motor and social. She still is timid physically.

My 24-weekers (twin boys) walked just after their second birthdays!

BTW, they're doing just fine.  They run cross-country and are fairly competitive at it!

Our 33-weeker walked at 12 months actual (10 months, adjusted). So far he hasn't had any gross motor delays. (He has also been really interested in standing, basically since birth. I'm pretty sure his personality had a role in when he started walking - he has a full-term buddy who's much more physically laid-back and who walked a couple of months after our guy.)
