Hi all. I am very glad to find a community that supports natural parenting. I am a totally blind mother of an almost 1 year old. My goodness I cannot believe that that amount of time has passed already. My husband and I went to a birth center for the birth of our DS because no MD or OBGYN would support a partially sighted man and a totally blind woman giving birth to, as well as raising a child. Every MD and OBGYN who we talked to about my birthing choices either told me that I needed to see a high risk doc because of my blindness, nevermind the fact that I was premature as a baby. or told me that I would be an incompatent parent because of the lack of eyesight. However, we are almost a year in, and our little chunk monster is doing extremely well. We are cloth diapering, nursing as well as cosleeping, although we do not do it every night due to LO's tendancy to kick DH in the ribs while hogging most of the queen sized bed. He stretches out in the middle of the bed and pushes me to the edge of the bed with his hands, while his feet would be working to move daddy to the other side, sometimes making daddy get up and either move to the floor or the couch. Anyway, I am pleased to meet all of you natural mamas.
