mom is taking a vacation

I am taking a vacation for my brother's wedding and leaving behind my kids and dh for 9 days. I have never left for more than 2 nights. Any ideas to help make it easier on them...and me? I should say...I live in MN and my trip will take me to Hawaii, so I won't be in too much pain except that I will really miss them.

I have one idea of writing notes to each of them now to put into envelopes for them to open each day.

How old are they?

I'm guessing school age because you mentioned notes? Maybe bake them something special before you leave as a surprise. Or, if they watch movies / DVDs then buy / rent / borrow a couple of things for them. How about something you loved at their age?

It'll be quite a climate change this time of year. Have fun!

Notes left there post-cards sent are a great idea... are you taking a laptop? B/C then you could skype video chat with them every night. That would help them not feel like you are so far away.

Hope you have a great trip! I love hawaii.

DS is 8 and DD is 5.5. DD is quite attached to me and will be the one to cry and miss me more. She is already a little anxious about it.
