So I thought I would post here, I haven't posted in almost 3 years as that is how old my preemie is. I am going to have another soon. I am slowly accepting this, it's overwhelming and a lot to digest.
My daughter was born @ 32weeks weighing 3lbs 13.5oz and stayed in the NICU for three weeks with no complications. She is a spitfire now.
I am now pregnant with a boy due 4/4, makes me 31 weeks. Two weeks ago I had bad cramping and went to LD..sent home as it was "stretching"..fluid level was 14.4cm and baby was kicking, moving, and had a great heart beat. A few days passed and I became violently ill due to pain and still had intense cramping -sent home as it was due to "stretching"..fluid level great again, kicking, moving, and great heart beat. Went to my Dr. last Monday due to being in so much pain..said the same thing, it's stretching and round ligament pains. On Tuesday I woke up and went to work and was telling my boss about the pains and showed her where they were and I was bruised! I had bad bruises...I had to see them in a mirror. Call Dr. and rush off. They checked me out and nothing, they did take blood and sent me home with Vicodin.
At 2am I got a call that the babies blood was in mine(0 being none, 14 being critcally high -mine came back with a level of 25) and I need to get to LD for steroid shots NOW, she said it was placental abruption. Now there are a WHOLE bunch of details to the story I'll skip but the jist -they did an u/s, my fluid had dropped but placenta and baby looked great. BPP was 8/8 and baby was breathing and had a good heartbeat. They wanted to keep me, but I am a single mom and needed to go home. With a promise I would return for daily NST's and ultrasounds, I went home. Thursday went back for 2nd steroid, NST, U/S. I was diagnosed with IUGR about 23wks, so he is around 2lbs give or take the Dr said. With him bleeding into me the concern was Anemia. So they checked the levels of the flow of blood in the brain and he came out marginally Anemic. The Dr. mentioned bleeding in his brain and said they would monitor, he passed his NST and my fluid dropped some more. Friday fluid dropped more, but he passed his NST. The same over the weekend.
Yesterday he is measuring a little over 2lbs. My fluid level is a 4-4.5cm. He passed his NST. He had failed his BPP on Sunday due to no movement. It has been 6 days since he moved, even on u/s. They have done multiple blood tests(took 37 viles last week from me over the course of the week) and they are unsure as to why all of this is happening. While he did pass his BPP yesterday, it was a tiny twitch. They Dr. said he has a 50-60% of being still born. He did check to see if bleeding stopped and it has, so they aren't concerned about that right now.
I go in today, well everyday, and he could be taken today. I hear everyday "bring your bags packed, could be tomorrow" or "anytime now"....The Dr. described it as winning the lottery, I can't be a winner everyday. So it's a lot to absorb.
I did have my NICU registration/tour/consult last week and the NICU is so nice..I'd rather not be there period, but since it's looking like I am. He would have his own room and it is rooming in. I can be there with my 3yr old and we can eat there and if my milk doesn't come in right away, the hurse said they use donor breastmilk. I was shocked. I also got to do a bit of shopping for preemie stuff and some stuff for his NICU bed/room. This NICU is so different than the one we were at with my daughter.
So I may pop in, I don't know if today will be the day.
