Pulling out her OWN hair?

Thread Starter
DD does this a lot, mostly when she's falling asleep. She really grabs onto her hair and pulls until she gets a few strands out by the roots. She also pulls this hard on her ears. I often try to keep her hands away and gently rub her head myself, or put a blanket in her hands to distract her, but she keeps doing it.

Anyone else?

Ditto!

Our DD's were born only a few days apart - maybe it's a developmental thing? She seems to be pulling at the spots where she still has some cradle cap, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. It's strange.

DD1 is a hair puller when tired too and has been since she was about 7 or 8 months. She's has learned not to pull too hard, but she still does it at 3, especially when she is very tired.
We can slow it down by rubbing her hair gently. But that's about it.

Yes DD does this too. She was born with a ton of hair, which she pulled in the first few weeks and then stopped (she lost some of it naturally anyway). Just recently she has begun the hair pulling or ear pulling when I am nursing her to sleep or before a nap. Generally I just try to move her hand so she is grabbing a blanket or my finger, because I think it's the grabbing motion that she likes, rather than actually pulling her hair.

Haha yeah ds does this. In my head I holler 'STOP you don't have that much TO pull out!!' but nothing much seems to soothe him for going to sleep aside from that anymore
