October 2009 moms and babes chat! - Page 5

Hi everyone!

I love all the baby updates, everyones babies are so precious! DS is my first so i didn't expect for him to go from newborn to baby seemingly overnight. It is amazing how much they change!! I am loving his giggles and curiosity in everything. He is the first baby i have ever been around and i am loving it-really fun(of course after you get past the sleep deprivation, lol) He just turned 4 months old and weighs 17lbs, 8oz and is 26 in long. He looks proportional, just giant! (he was 8-10 19 in at birth) He is just starting to be able to sit up now too which is adorable.

Here he is being pitiful and sleepy: http://www5.snapfish.com/slideshow/A...NAME=snapfish/

Well, we all had a cold here the past few days. I think DD got it first, then she shared it w/ me, then I shared it w/ DS, lol. We're all still a little congested but on the mend now.

No new advancements or anything (i.e. no rolling over, etc. lol). Just wanted to say hi again and share another picture. I felt bad b/c I was thinking about his face again and I couldn't remember the last time I'd even just TAKEN a picture of him, much less uploaded one to FB or any of my message boards. So here he is.

And here's me, at about 9 months I think. Maybe he looks like me?

See, DS's skin is so terrible that it scared everyone away.

Jen, DS goes through sleep phases. He has good nights and good naps and bad nights and bad naps. I don't notice any particular pattern that causes the good versus the bad.

Your DS is adorable! I think firewoman started an October DDC chat in MArch thread and that's where everyone went.

I am really flummoxed by why your DS is having the skin flareups he is having. Did you ever try a complete elimination diet?

Ladies, there is a new thread started for March here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1200679

Just so things don't get confusing!

Andrea-Your DS is beautiful! He does look like you. He definitely has your cute nose! I also think you still look a lot like your baby picture. I could have picked it out as you after seeing your belly pics.

I know you have tried eliminating dairy and chocolate without much luck. After doing just a little reading I see that dairy and eggs are the biggest triggers that cause eczema, but there are others like soy, wheat, peanuts and other tree nuts. Most people eat many sources of wheat or gluten. You would have to give up bread and pasta, but can eat potatoes, rice, and quinoa. Gluten really isn't good for us anyway and there are lots of yummy alternatives.

I can only imagine how completely irritating this is and how sick of everyone's opinions you must be. I wish I could wave a magic wand and his rash would be completely gone revealing the beautiful baby skin underneath. Is it possible to take him to a naturopath? Do you know is there are any near you? Have you tried putting vaseline on it? Did it help?

I have had 3 calls from the local health dept. about my unvaxed 2 year old, wanting to know if we have signed a waiver at the ped's office. What do they care if we've signed a waiver? We've only been there once and I wish I could take it back, we're not even on WIC!

I haven't been to the retreat yet, but I'm going to check it out asap.

Serenyd-WOW! I can't believe that the health department called you about signing the waiver. I thought those waivers were just to protect the pediatrician from litigation. Why DOES the health department care? How and why do they even know? What are the vax laws like in your state?
