supply dwindling and cycle returning

I had an ovarian cyst burst last night and my midwife told me it was likely because my cycle is returning since ovarian cysts accompany ovulation. I had a history of this prior to pregnancy. My DS#2 who is almost 4 months old is in FT day care and I've been struggling to even pump 5-6 oz per day for a bottle let alone the 8-10 oz I was pumping in the beginning. I've been battling a cold for about 2 weeks now and increased water intake, alfala, fenugreek, and blessed thistle have done very little to boost my supply. The only thing that's worked a bit is Yogi Nursing Tea. I see a tiny boost even after just 1 cup, but my midwife said upon the cycle returning, my supply will decrease some more.

I try to pump every 4 hours at work but sometimes I do get caught up in meetings, so I imagine the extended amount of time (5 hours sometimes) has led to my cycle returning. Will pumping every 2 hours stop the cycle or has that ship sailed? I'm willing to try domperidone too if I can get it but my midwife says it's hard to get. I committed to breastfeeding at least 6 months but I'm finding it surprisingly hard - I guess with DS #1, I was a WAHM so it was easier to keep my supply up given that he was with me almost all the time.

When my cycle returned (3 months ago) my milk supply waned for about a week, but it did return in full force. I was run down, had a cold, and so I was also using galactagogue teas, and I read that the same herbs can also stimulate your cycle to return - it is all connected! I wasn't working, so it was easier to get back on track, but the pumping will definitely help. Can you take pics of your baby to look at while you pump? I have also always had trouble getting much milk when I pump, and I have found the sight, scent, or sound of my baby to make a big difference. Spend as much time as you can skin-to-skin at night when you are home. I found that when I felt panicky about making enough milk, I actually made less. So, try not to be hard on yourself (easier said than done!) and if you have to supplement some, it CAN be done temporarily.

4 hours is a long time to go without pumping. Idealy you should be pumping every 2 hours. So I would say first think is to pump more frequently.

Secondly more often than not a dip in supply during menstration is normal and usually does not call for supplimenation just more frequent nursing sessions. You can counter act this dip by taking a calcium magnisium suppliment.
