I have an induction scheduled

well, looks like February 6th will be his birthday.

i'm going in friday night for the whatchamacallit - the hormone tampon. can't think of the stupid thing's name right now.

then, they'll start inducing saturday morning. that is, of course, if i don't start myself soon.

this seems unlikely though - i am in the *exact* same place as i was at last week's appointment.

Well, I hope you begin before then. If not, I hope you have a smooth induction and birth.

thank you.

i'm still hopefully that something can happen naturally, but i have to be realistic too.

i think thursday and friday i'm going to walk and walk and walk and walk

Things can move along quickly even if they seemed stuck before--that's what I keep telling myself at least. Here's to lots of walking and the effects of gravity!

I had my induction scheduled and went into labor two days before. I went on a walk, went out for spicy food and a bumpy car ride on the way home and took several relaxing baths and went into labor shortly after. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Are they doing the cervidil?? That is a very gentle way to help ripen the cervix--the pit is the harder one!

Are you up for DTD??? Very similar effects of cervidil but better since it is natural

I was there, too, and still went on my own at 41 weeks.

Good luck!

yes - cerivdil was the name.

we've tried it already - DDT - to be honest, it was rather horrible - hard to feel sexy when you are as big as a blimp and your hemrrhroids are killing you when getting bumped a bit. we tried a few positions and none of them were comfortable for me and some outright hurt. i did finally have a *very* nice O after we stopped trying and just kind of, um, took care of each other in other ways...

spicy food didn't work - which i knew wouldn't work b/c i eat spicy food all the time!

i walk for about an hour a day, longer on weekends.

i have not done the bumpy ride or castor oil. i think the old wives' tales are only there to try to help you think you can do something about it.

what if you refuse an induction? I'm talking about myself. My midwife and I haven't talked about it yet, but what happens if you want to give it a little more time?

i can only speak for the Ob practice i go to - they prefer that you not get to 42 weeks and schedule an induction during week 41.

however, i know if i had said no, it would not have been a fight / problem.

there are several things i really like about them - i've only had internals at 40 weeks and now 41 weeks. they don't do them unless the patient asks or if something is happening that they want to check.

It depends on the midwife and hospital or birthing center, if you're using one, and also why your care provider recommended an induction. (There's a big difference between you just being past postdates and you having consented to one of the fetal well-being tests and, even with their high rates of falsely showing a problem, it showing a problem.) You could end up having your care provider refuse to care for you any longer. You might have to sign something that states that you refused an induction. Or the care provider might not care.

I did the castor oil with my first baby and within 4 hours I was having contractions, a little later my water broke... had to do two doses, but it did the trick Plus, you dont have to worry about wishing you had had an enema while you're pushing! lol castor oil ensures you are squeaky clean

Are you saying that I shouldn't be doing the NST's or AFI's unless I think there is a problem with my baby? Like significantly less movement? Is it like a trap?

my cervix didn't really change until i'd been in active labor for hours with my 1st pregnancy. there's still hope!! hang in there!!

thanks again all!

well, maybe things are starting to happen. i def. lost either the last of or alot of my mucus plug yesterday (at least i think that's what it was) and today i appear to be having a brownish mucus starting to appear. i'm guessing it's the start of a slight bloody show?

and, i walked for an hour this morning, and will walk the dog again later this morning and afternoon. hopefully things will get going on their own.

still no real contractions.
