Bleeding while teething normal??

After dinner I noticed my DS (almost 22 mos) had blood coming from his mouth. It was not a lot, but more than a spot. You can see that a back molar is peeking through. On the front of the gums you can see a protrusion of gum tissue sticking straight up and the back you can just see the tooth. Called the pedi and she said it isn't an emergency but to take him to a dentist tomorrow.

The bleeding has stopped, but this seems highly odd to me.

Anyone else experience this?

Dd has this with two of her teeth. I didn't know is was abnormal, she's my 1st.

When my DD was cutting teeth around 10 or 11 months, I would notice very faint blood stains on her sheets. She was never bleeding anywhere else, so I assumed it was from teething and faint because it was being diluted with saliva.
