17mo- what is normal

my 17mo dd seems to be nursing less and less. maybe this what is supposed to happen, but i had dreams of us nursing until she was 3, or 4....

she nurses first thing in the morning, nap time (often a short nurse), maybe once in the afternoon, and bed time. She nurses a couple of times at night, but just short ones, and maybe a couple VERY short slurps during the day (besides what i already listed)

Is this about on par for this age? for those of you who made it past 2 years, is this about where you were at 17mo? Is this a nursing strike or normal weaning process?

I should mention in a SAHM and I offer often, and she rejects me!

Well, it's about where we are and my dd will try to climb into my shirt when she wants to nurse even when I've given overt signals to wait "hang on small stuff, just let me put this pan of boiling water down!!!" so I don't think she's being affected too drastically by subtle signals to wait.

sounds normal. There will probably be a surge again around 2 and then it will drop back off.

At 17 months, my babe was still nursing quite a lot. But I have a friend who's little girl is now 17 months, and she just stopped asking for milk and is essentially weaned. In both cases moms were stay-at home, nursing on demand, etc. Kids are different and have different wants and needs!
