Scent is the fastest way to the limbic system in the brain. Our memories are often tied to scent. I just started using Young Living essential oils and I love them so far! I didn't read about tapping and essential oils though. Where did you find that information?

This reminds me of Masaru Emoto's ideas about water. Someone mentioned them in the kitchen witch thread, I think!

I saw aweynsayl's mention the use of lemon candles in her last post to assist with her throat chakra issue, and was inspired!

its really trial & error at this point.

Here's an article on using essential oils and tapping. The blends that the author is talking about are from Young Living. A friend of mine sent me this article after I posted the question about tapping and essential oils. Talk about syncronicity!

if you want to wear them while upright (sitting/standing), what about dangly earrings that would fall on either side of the throat chakra? or, if while lying down, what about just tucking it under your neck? would either of those work? or does it have to be front & center?

eta: if you don't love true-blue, what about turquoise?

i've been away from this thread for a little while and trying to catch up now . . .
I just made a throat chakra necklace last night with turquoise (it is supposed to be real turquoise, but I am a little doubtful.) blue lace agate chips and a bunch of blue glass beads borrowed from my daughter's bead box

I also made a rose quartz heart chakra necklace a few days ago. Two chakras down, 5 to go.

I spend a lot of time looking at different beads. The different shades of blue are troublesome, don't harmonize well together, somehow, not like different shades of green do.

i go in phases with aromatherapy, i think. i tend to forget just how powerful it is, and slack a bit in using it, but it does make a big impact on me, especially when i really need it, if that makes sense.

i read that blue-green was ok for throat chakra, and that really opened stuff up for me. i got some fun embroidery floss in colors i wouldnt typically call blue, but i really *like* them, and for me, that's important.

i think dangly earrings would be wonderful for throat chakra (not for me, though, as i cant wear earrings!)... i've been working myself up for slightly shorter necklaces, and i pull the stones up to my throat while i'm resting, and it's been interesting.... i'm getting a lot of phlegm. ew, i know, but interesting!

thanks for the turquoise note aubergine-- i have two really sentimental bits that i typically dont wear. after i read your post this morning i pulled them out and have been wearing them all day....

i agree, blue stones are challenging to mix. way more so than other "natural" stones.

rose quartz for heart chakra is one of my absolute favorite chakra/stone combos. did you ever do anything with the garnets?

Actually, doubledutch made the turquoise suggestion, aweyn, which was neat because I was playing with the stones for a throat chakra necklace a few hours earlier and ended up adding a very greenish turquoise mix to the necklace of blues before I came on and found doubledutch's post. Synchronicity!

I am glad that you found some old jewelry you'd forgotten! I was given a turquoise turtle once; wish I still had it. Wonder what *is* in that old box up in my closet, come to think of it....

I haven't done anything much with the garnets yet, but my dd has requested that I do a red necklace next, so I'll use some for that. I also have some black jasper chips and some very reddish jasper chips to mix in, and some brighter red glass beads from my dd's kit. I was thinking of doing an anklet as you suggested but I've never worn one. Was thinking of trying to get some stretchy thread to string on. Maybe trying the floss would be a good idea.

I have a great big spool of steel wire and was thinking of crocheting the wire into a chain and looping the beads on there too.

Now I have to share a story about the rose quartz necklace. I had the beads in my box and hadn't done much with them, except visualize a "patience" necklace. Then on Monday night, I lost my temper and yelled at my youngest for no good reason at all He still hasn't forgotten -- keeps telling his friends how mommy yelled, drawing pictures of me mad at him, poor sweet kid.

I apologized lots, cuddled him to sleep , and stayed up late making my "patience" necklace to remind me to keep my temper with my kids -- a very theraputic act, choosing and stringing, never have done this before. I strung rose quartz, hematite and freshwater pearls (symbolic of something beautiful coming out of irritation) and wore the necklace yesterday and today. Wow! I have lots of energy, even without sleep, have felt that crystal "chi" feeling, and have endless peace and warmth with my kids. So I'm feeling all good with my heart chakra now and excited to try this exercise with the other chakras. (But first I have to take a break because I've got some hand cramping from the beading.

I wonder if knitting or painting or drawing in chakra colors would have a similar effect. Imagine drawing a collection of dresses for a chakra ball., say....or collaging materials. Or planning/planting a garden of chakra-colored flowers.

For example, I have daydreamed for years of learning how to quilt and making a purple quilt, all colors of purple, with purple words embroidered on it, like `violet' and `lavender'. (and hey, maybe `aubergine' ). Even started saving fabric scraps for it. Now I wonder if this daydream was actually a kind of chakra work, indulging in a mental and spiritual color bath that tuned up my crown/brow chakras at the same time...

Aubergine, loved your post! What beautiful ideas! Now I want to make a rose quartz, hematite and pearl necklace... I think I will put my rose quartz in my medicine bag today.

Was up late working my way through the tappingdotcom guy's chakra tapping script. I simply can't do the whole thing in one sitting.

I get mental images and revelations on various points, but I've never had an really emotional experience while tapping. I always feel better afterwards, though.

I was experimenting with wearing the pink quartz necklace and holding an appropriately-colored stone to each chakra while tapping it. Felt a good energy flow.

I also got down the old jewelry box and found my turquoise turtle pendent, and also a lot of other odds and ends of costume jewelry which I'll have to give to my daughter -- some of it could be taken apart and restrung and she might enjoy that.

Aubergine- The quilt idea is a good one. Reminds me of a lavender and yellow quilt I made in my teens that I still cuddle. Knitting or crocheting something-woohoo all the ideas. A scarf or shawl (poncho anyone??) for the throat chakra. Hats for the crown. Aweyn- do scarves bother you? that may be a good necklace & earring alternative. And you can bead the yarn too. http://www.knittersreview.com/articl...e/020502_a.asp

Ok, fun time over. Gotta go.

turq~ ah, yes, she did... i took it to mean the color, but yes. thank you both!

anyone else have a hard time with 3rd eye and crown colors? partly because there are different opinions on purple/indigo/violet/white.... and partly because i have a hard time with those colors in the first place... i'm working on both of those chakras right now, as i've been having a headache that just WONT go completely away, but it's not something i'm finding easy!

i'd been doing some drawings, just silly doodles during art time with ds... i've been planning to do chakra ones (on my list for today, actually!), but we've been doing playdough instead lately. (i've done some fun chakra colored playdough creations, though, which are great fun... blue-colored ring holder, charge my ring on that, infusing it with some throat chakra energy, etc.....) i've also found BUBBLES to be wonderful chakra energy things, and have been blowing bubbles in the yard once a day. very fun. makes me feel like i'm doing something to keep ds's chakras balanced, too.

saphire, i do like scarves, but i dont knit! i wish. maybe i'll have to learn. i've actually been experimenting with head covering, as i've been having a monster of a time with my crown chakra. it does help a ton, but i need to find something other than my huge winter scarf or my hoodie, lol...

Wheels of Life by Anodea Judith

A friend loaned me this book, subtitled "The User's Guide to the Chakra System, revised edition". I'm 50 pages into it and I know I'm going to be buying it, and hunting down everything else this author has written.

Anyone else heard of it? Learning so much, especially about Eastern/yoga terminology and concepts relating to the chakras.

Just one tidbit to start with that relates to the question of working from the crown down or the base up.

There are two currents running through the chakras. One, the author calls "a current of manifestation," which moves from the crown downwards through the base chakra -- begin with an idea (crown chakra), develop it through intutition and images (brow chakra), communicate about it (throat chakra), give it love and develop relationships around it (heart chakra), give it your will and power (solar plexus), bring your concepts and matter together in an act of generation (sacral) and then fully manifest it in matter (base)

Judith calls this "current of manifestation" a male principle (of Shiva), but darnit this is Mothering () so I'm going to say "give birth to your idea into matter through the sacral and root chakra".

The second current the author names the "current of liberation" ie liberation from matter, from bad habits, from blocks, the female principle, Shakti....works to the reverse direction and is the channel usually described in Chakra meditations.

Different channels may work best for different people and different goals of meditation.

I'm thinking the first direction for anyone who wants to use the Chakras as a Treasure Map pattern.

Ok now to feed the children and find time to read the next chapter - one chapter on each chakra and chapters on the interaction of chakras and fostering healthy chapters in children.....

I subscribed to this thread awhile ago, but realized I have only been reading and haven't participated until now.

I have slowly learned about the chakras through a variety of holistic healers. The most direct chakra work was with my transformational breathing (TB) facilitator (also called conscious breathing, which I prefer). He is amazing and helped me release a lot of "stuff that was stuck" (my oh-so-elegant phrase ). After learning from him and getting the big stuff out of the way, I have been continuing the breathing techniques on my own and it is amazing what I can prevent and release on my own.

I am quite intrigued by EFT and have downloaded the manual. I'm working my way through reading it. I went to bed last night somewhere in the middle of page 23.

One thing I learned from the TB guy is the "fear belt". The solar plexus chakra has a lot to do with fear (holding it, releasing it, processing it, etc). He taught me that I could feel my (physical) fear response by seeing how much of the underneath edge of my rib cage I could grasp with my fingers. Before the session where we discussed this, I could barely feel the edge closest to the skin's surface. After that particular session, I could feel an amazing amount of the underneath edge on my left side (almost getting completely underneath and "inside") while my right side was only marginally more open. We talked about hereditary fear, too. Fascinating conversation!

Just yesterday I was with a dear friend who teaches yoga and is a healer. We were "playing", as she calls it, versus "working". (I have a professional session with her next week. This was two friends getting together, but being a healer is who she is and she is very open.) Anyway, hereditary or genetic fear came up in our conversation. I do not recall all the details, but it was truly fascinating.

Also, I had purchased myself a rose quartz necklace online as my Christmas present from my mom (she sent a check). I adore this necklace! Three relatively recent healers (in the last two years) I have seen recommended I work on my heart chakra first. Although, none of them stated it quite like that, rather they recommended specific actions to me and I later found out those actions are related to the heart chakra, if that makes sense. So, yet another way to approach the chakras.... center outwards. Anyway, I asked my friend to hold my necklace and bless it. She held it quietly for several minutes and communicated information about it to me from angels/guides/etc. (She is a "conduit", as we joked yesterday. ) I had such an awesome day yesterday and she recommended I wear the necklace often and put it by my bed at night. I usually hang it up in my wall jewelry box (with closed front), so last night I left on my bedside table instead. Not sure what to make of it, but it was hard not to put it away.

I love using essential oils and have a set of tiny vials that correspond to the chakras. At my Ayurveda specialist's recommendation, I dabbed a bit of the pink one (rose and palmarosa in jojoba) on my body whenever I thought about it. (One of those indicators to work on my heart chakra first.) It smells sooooo good!!!!! I'm always happier the days I use this or wear the necklace. Come to think of it, I have never done both on the same day. Hmmmm....

Okay, I think I have rambled on long enough.... I am excited to see this thread!

I have been loosely following this thread, but had to respond to this. I recently purchased this book on the recommendation of IntuitiveJamie (during a reading -- she is awesome, BTW!) and I LOVE IT, too! So much so that I also just purchased another one by Judith, Eastern Body, Western Mind -- Psychology and the Chakra System as a Path to the Self. Great books, so much information! I found both at my local used book store in excellent condition.

Hello! Couldn't help but get excited when I read this thread! I'm learning about all of this in a holistic program I'm studying. I love this meditation to balance chakras...

The Ribbon Breath Meditation.

Taking a class this week on mineral and crystal use.

i guess it's my day to bring up all the non-chakra stuff that relates, lol.....

i've been dealing with fears a lot lately-- had a realization just the other day that working with sp might be more helpful than sacral, which is what i had been doing, and it made a huge difference!

if you're interested releasing inherited fears, there's this thing some of us have worked with, quantum k (it takes a long time to load, so be patient. it's about 23 min, and free). it's a sort of guided meditation for restoring your genetic blueprint. one of the things it "releases" is along the lines of genetic fears.

the advanced chakra tapping, which for me falls under "working" on you chakras vs. exploring or clearing, starts with heart. this makes sense to me, for "work," as then all else you work on will be connected to your heart. "body talk" is another energy medicine concept that is based on that idea... in the one exercise i do from it, you are essentially connecting your brain and your heart. it's super easy and quick, and great for getting rid of headaches! (i some times use it to clear my crown chakra. there, i brought it back to chakras, lol)

i love rose for heart. it's also an anti-depressant, which doesnt hurt, lol. i used to burn rose candles all the time, but the brand doesnt make them anymore.

the idea of directions for different types of work makes a lot of sense to me. nice to be able to use that intentionally, depending on which you're wanting to do!
and, lol at "healthy chapters in children"

i've been making bracelets for myself on orange thread with rose quartz. not sure what my intent is behind it... maybe connecting my security to my heart, so it's wherever i am? but i am loving it. sometimes i toss in some oregon sunstone (sacral).

Just popping in for an update - still tapping away here. Tried it in the shower and it was amazing the physical sensations which it manifested.

As I worked down from my crown to my heart, there was a tightness and very heavy feeling associated with the next chakra down. Best way to clear a lot of it was tapping on the collarbone - lots of release there. Anyways - I felt *sparkly* is the best word I can come up with after that session. From toes to head - sparkly.

I'm not going to get much more fancy with crystals or much more scent, as I think the basics might be in my arena right now. I was using a rosemary soap, so off to research rosemary to see what it relates too (i.e. specific chakras or not or just in general aromatherapy)

Next time (which is about once a week) I'll try to work all the chakras root to crown reversing the order I had this time.
