Belly Dancing

12 more days till I'm out of my 1st trimester! Yeah! Looking forward to no sickness.

On a separate note I was researching origins of belly dancing and am going to try it to get ready for this birth. Apparently it is really good to get all your birthing muscles in shape. Looks like fun. I just bought two dvd's to try out. Has anyone else used belly dancing to stay in shape through pregnancy?

Yes!! I have been wanting to start! I got a dvd... Amira's Belly Dance and Yoga for Pregnancy... but have yet to try it. I'm having a hard time creating time whilst chasing my toddler around! But I have been dancing around the house I want to try to dance throughout my labor if I feel so inclined.

That is also the one I purchased along with Veena and Neena: Belly Baby - A Prenatal Belly dance Workout. I received a gift card that I had to use so I figured what the heck! I have four kids from 2,6,9,13 so we will see if I can set time aside for this fun. I home school so it will be tough.

I'm a beginner belly dancer too. I wait for DD to take her nap and then I practice with DS by my side. I also do prenatal yoga. Both, yoga and belly dancing, are great way to keep in shape and prepare those birthing muscles. I love doing both. Its a struggle but I try to do it at least every other day. I am hoping that it will pay of come labor day in July!

I'm not pg, yet, but I just took up Belly Dancing again, after several years hiatus, and I was thinking what a fabulous form of exercise it would be for pregnancy. I love Neena and Veena's DVD's--I'm excited to hear they have a pregnancy one. I'd love to hear how using Belly Dance as pregnancy exercise/birth prep goes for other people.

Wow! I got my Belly dancing for pregnancy DVD and tried it yesterday...If I could just sit all day I would. The muscles from my hips to right above my knees got taken out big time...no matter how I move it hurts. Who knew that those muscles are used no matter which way you move.

Okay...glutton for punishment...yeah. I just received my Hoopnotica kit today and am to excited to wait...I am going to try it. If I get half-way decent I will post a video. LOL Just kidding. If you want to see a pregnant lady Hula Hoop go to YouTube:P

As soon as I get over the all day sickness I'm going back to hula, it's similar to belly dancing. My teacher did both during her pregnancies and they were great births.I also used some of the moves during my pit induction with my second baby, it really helped him move quickly and that was before I even knew the official dance moves. Have fun!

Yes! I have been hooping on occasion and been lovin it! Though I have noticed that I am more susceptible to tummy aches so I have to wait long long long after I last ate. But it feels really good and the movements are very similar to belly dancing

I'm not pregnant yet, but TTC and I took a free belly dancing class this past Saturday. It was 2 hours long and woooowwww! My whole body was sore for a couple days afterwards. I definitely want to get a dvd and use it now and while pregnant, it's just fun!
