poop in underwear question

Ok, we've started the PL journey and have got the pee part down! (almost anyway)
She hasn't got the hang of pooping in the potty yet. No biggie, I'm giving it some time, know it will come. In the meantime, how do you get pants and undies off when they have poop in them? I end up getting it all over her legs, her pants, some usually falls to the floor. Help!

eta - I've tried her standing up and laying down, both seem to have the same result.

Depends on the um... "texture" lol. If it's a nice little formed ball, then underwear is pretty easy to get off w/o a mess, no matter the position of the child.

But if it's more like a huge bunch of peanut butter, then yes, it will get everywhere. I would get something to have her lay on (like an old towel or a small pile of prefolds or something) and then take everything off carefully while she's laying down.

What about just taking it off in the shower then spraying her down afterward?

I don't know the answer to this question, because I haven't PL with anyone yet.

Maybe stand her up in the bathtub? I do that with my younger in diapers so I can wash him down, as his poops are way too hummusy to deal with on the changing table.

Sorry if this sounds gross, but I buy flushable wipes and use a handful of those to scoop out the contents of the underwear and toss it all in the toilet before I pull them down. Unless it's super runny this usually works. You still have to take shoes/socks off though.

Just be glad you have a girl and not a boy who wants to wear boxers....poop accidents and boxers do NOT go well together.....
