Strollers

My youngest, was never a stroller baby, however ... we have accumulated a number of stroller at least 4 or 5. We will not likely have more children, but I may watch children at my home sometime in the future. My DH would rather not use storage space for the strollers.

stroller 1 - used a lot with my oldest, standard one hand fold type from a travel system
stroller 2 - umbrella, small, used a lot with my oldest
stroller 3 - umbrella larger, not used much, but folds small and handy to put in smaller car
stroller 4 - jogging stroller, not used much, very easy and comfortable to manuver, folds moderately easy but still large when folded, does not recline well.
stroller 5 -perego plinko, has so many wonderful features, but difficult to fold, and does not have a tray, and has umberalla-type handles.

what should I do with the strollers? please, help me mentally work through this.

I'd probably keep the Pliko (you can order a tray) and the jogging stroller.

The others I would give away or sell on Craigslist.

I don't see the need for the umbrella and the bulky travel system one if you keep the Peg Perego. I would say keep the jogger depending on your needs/area (for instance, here it's all dirt roads so my Pliko won't work around the neighborhood).

I would get rid of all of them and then pick up a secondhand stroller if needed once you start to babysit.

I would just keep an umbrella stroller- if you're no longer using strollers and it's really just for "just in case" situations, I'd just keep something compact.

I think I would keep the Pliko or number 3, depending on which is smaller/easier to store.

That, or get rid of all of them and then pick something up if it becomes necessary in the future.

As for how to get rid of them, I would either list them on Craigslist, if you want to try to get money for them, or post them on Freecycle. I think the second option would be good karma - Freecycle your strollers now with the hope that you might find a stroller available on Freecycle when the time comes that you are looking for one again.

Related: Is a stroller necessary for in-home day care? Even if it is, you'd really only need one (because you can only push one stroller at a time, of course). Would it possible to require that the parents of the stroller-needing kid provide a one for your use during care hours?

I'd craigslist all of them, and then if/when you babysit and find that you need one I'd go back to craigslist to buy one. (Or, hit a children's consignment shop - they've consistenly got great strollers for good prices at ours)

I'd keep my favorite b/c you won't be able to replace it for anything near what you'd get selling secondhand. The others I would put on craigslist. If you have a garage, I'd use some type of hook (maybe like what a bike could hang on) screwed into the wall and keep it stored up out of the way instead of using valuable space.

My other thought was if you're watching enough kids that you need a stroller instead of carrying the LOs, maybe you'll end up needing a stroller designed for multiples or for daycares.

Keep on really good one. Time fly's and when your little ones have a little one or you find yourself babysitting you have something to use. The rest,

I'd keep just 1, but I'd prefer one that can recline. A walk really helps a tough napper.

Not sure how old your youngest is, but I'd just keep the small umbrella stroller in the car trunk and get rid of all others.
