I know this has been covered in other posts but I didn't see a poll and I just want to get a simple idea of what YOU would buy if you were going to be pumping to go back to work (@ 12 weeks). Medela Pump In Style or Ameda Purely Yours

It won't let me vote this way, but I have both. I thought I liked the Ameda better, but now I am really falling in love with my pump in style.... hmmmm... I'm interested in what everyone else will say...

I've never used the Medela. I loved my Ameda PY. I used it for over 2 years as a full-time working mama. I even used it for 3 months as a pregnant full-time nursing, working mama!

So it looks like the PY is winning. Anyone have really strong feelings either way?

They're very similar, but I vote the PY for the simple reason that it's a closed system. The fact that it's less expensive is just the icing on the cake.

I use the Medela Freestyle, which is more spendy, but I love it because I can pump hands free and still get work done (I have my own office, so I can just close the door). But I have heard there is a way you can rig your own hands free with hairties.

I've had the opportunity to try both the pis and purely yours and have been able to extract much more milk out, in less time to boot, with the purely yours. I like that its much cheaper than the medela, plus how it is set up, there is no way for milk to back up into the motor, which is possible with the medela. The only downside is that I can only find replacement parts online, but not too bad, since the parts have lasted much longer than recommended.
