Reducing oil production

I've been under the impression that no-pooing trains your scalp not to overproduce oil--to produce it more like nature intended. Does the same go for your face?

I have oily skin that also gets flaky when i use soap. So i've been alternating methods according to what i think my skin needs: wash with honey when oily, oil cleansing method to remove make-up, water and a washcloth if it's pretty clean. I have to follow up all these methods with a quick wipe of witch hazel to remove more oil. (and i only wash my face twice/day)

If i stop using soap on my face, as i pretty much have to do, shouldn't it stop producing so much oil? I'm asking b/c i've never seen anything on the subject, tho i've been researching natural skin care like mad!

Guess no one knows...either that or it's a stupid question, which i suppose it is considering skin is skin.

In any case, i found mention of reducing your facial oil supply and seems you can. Thank God.

I have greatly de-greased my face by washing less. I have always had very oily face, hair & scalp, and while I am still fighting the scalp battle, my face is good these days

I just wash first thing in the morning, w/my sulfate free shampoo & a little scratchy buff puff to remove dead skin. Not piping hot, just pretty warm. I do a non greasy face cream (Ponds) which actually prevents the oil from cropping up quickly after my shower like it used to... I don't wash at night unless I wore makeup (like 1x a month) or worked out really hard.

My skin is fine after 14 hours, and only greasy again after 23 hours (next morning pre shower.) I have also cleared up my pimples with this method.

I have a combination between dry and normal skin. It mostly depends on the weather though. I have been using Clean and Clear Products from ever since. Its a mild skin condition thats why I have stuck with those products.
