Okay...read Noah's Ark.

Questions

1. If God loves everyone, why did God want to kill all the bad people?

2. If the bad people had babies and they didn't go on the Ark, then they died too....how can a newborn baby be bad?

3. so...if I am bad....can God kill me too?

4. Why could people see God way back then but not anymore?

This was me... as early as age 3 and 4. Soon, the Sunday school teachers couldn't stand me because I "troubled" the other kids with my questions. I did leave the church as soon as I left home.

So tread carefully with your dd. And good luck.

God did not want to have to kill the people. What God really wanted was for the people to love and serve him. The people chose to rebel against God and do what they knew was wrong. God gave them many chances to turn back to him and was even loving enough to send Noah to try to warn them and give them a way to escape death, but they did not listen to him.

2. If the bad people had babies and they didn't go on the Ark, then they died too....how can a newborn baby be bad?

The babies weren't bad, but their parents were disobeying God. Just because they died in the flood doesn't mean that they were bad, just like sometimes babies die now and it doesn't mean they are bad either.

3. so...if I am bad....can God kill me too?

Everyone will die someday. But, just like God sent Noah to warn the people and try to save them from death way back then, God sent Jesus so that we can escape death as well. We don't have to fear dying (whenever it is that God chooses to take us home) because we have listened to Jesus and what he taught us.

4. Why could people see God way back then but not anymore?

There are some people that still see God today. But just as not everyone got to see God (only Noah), not everyone today gets to see God either. But, he tells us that we can all talk to him and he will listen.
My thoughts in red. Hope that helps.

Evies Mama, those answers are great

Here are some thoughts that come to my mind...
Question 1. If God loves everyone, why did God want to kill all the bad people?
God didn't want to kill anybody, He wanted them to know Him and to live happily with Him. Since God is everything good, and they didn't want to know God, they were choosing everything bad. And since everyone in the whole world besides Noah and his family were doing bad things, they were making the world terrible, for them, for the good people, the animals, and then their babies would have to grow up in a terrible world. God knew it was better to take the babies to heaven, and let Noah and his family start over.

2. If the bad people had babies and they didn't go on the Ark, then they died too....how can a newborn baby be bad?
The babies were not bad, but if they had to grow up in a world that was really bad, then they would probably learn to be bad instead of good. God thought it would be better to take them to heaven where they could be happy instead

3. so...if I am bad....can God kill me too?
everybodys body will die, but God doesn't want to hurt you or anybody. Anybody who lives with God in their hearts while they are in the world, will live with God forever

4. Why could people see God way back then but not anymore?
every one sees God in a different way. When Moses saw Him He was fire and clouds, some people saw Him as Jesus. The Bible promises us we can see God today by talking to Him, and then listening with our hearts. When we do this, and then listen to what God says, and do what He says, we will see Him do things in our lives... like showing us why we should do something, even though it's hard, and then helping us do it.

Following the example of red responses.......
These are really hard questions! you have a smart girl.

Heyla everyone! Just a quick reminder that the Spirituality forum has a few additional guidelines:

Quote:
The Spirituality board is a forum of support, respectful requests of information and sharing of faith and practice. To uphold this purpose the board will not host discussions of debate or criticism. Disagreements about spiritual issues should be set aside out of respect for the diversity and varying interpretations and beliefs that we hold as a community.

While we will not restrict discussions to persons of the faith being discussed, we will be active in discouraging an individual from posting for the purpose of disagreement, with no interest in practicing the faith or belief in discussion, or to prove a faith or a belief to be wrong, misguided, or not based on fact. Proselytizing, to convert to a faith or from one, will not be permitted. Controversial subjects of discussion related to spiritual and religious beliefs and origins can be found elsewhere on the internet and we invite you to seek out other sites for that purpose.
Please keep these in mind while posting, and thank you all for helping make MDC such an informative and caring community!

I would take the line that this is a very old story, one that's been around for thousands and thousands of years. That other cultures have similar stories. Did it really happen? Who knows? But people cared enough about the story to keep telling it all this time. Why do we think that might be?
