Schedule

Up until now I haven't had any set schedule for feeding DS, it's been on demand. However I need to increase his bottle intake (of fortified BM) and don't want to lose production.

He is not gaining weight and we need to try and get some growth.

I do have an SNS and try and use it as often as I can but some days it's not easy. Obviously it depends on if it's clean and if I have time to get it all set up by the time it's needed. I'm just kind of winging when to supplement and we've got a very crazy household.

So... I was hoping it may help to get some sort of supplement / pumping / SNS schedule with some help here if anyone is up to it... I'd obviously still feed him at breast as often as I can and hope his weight improves so that I can eventually get back to more breast and less supplement.

Problem is that he leaves milk in the breast but will drain bottles readily. So it's going to require a lot of time that I seriously am not sure how I will find in this house that is why a schedule would be helpful.

Also I have no clue how much to supplement. We're trying to get him to gain about 12 ounces or so in 2 weeks.

Do you know why he is not transferring milk well at the breast? Has he been checked (by someone who knows what to look for) for a tongue-tie (posterior and / or anterior)?

When you say he is not gaining any weight, what does that mean. 12oz in 2 weeks is A LOT.

Here is a chart with the average weight gain per age for a breastfeed baby, http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns...ight-gain.html.

It says that under 4 months should average 5.5 - 8.5 ounces per week, 4-6 months should average 3.25 - 4.5 ounces per week and over 6 months should average 1.75 - 2.75 ounces per week.

He was born at 8 pounds 12.2 and is at 11 pounds 3 or so ounces at just over 4 1/2 months.

They've got me in an absolute panic about brain development and I'm in tears more than not at this point and am about to just throw up my hands.

How do people not lose their minds?
It could be reflux, poor feeding mgmt, insufficient supply, chromosome issue, food allergy, intestinal issue, etc, etc, etc... I'm just beyond overwhelmed of all of the very many possibilities.

Whole unbearably long post can be found here:
