Special pj's for 5 yo.

I hope this belongs here. If not, mods please move it.
My mom has a friend who has a 5 yo daughter with a feeding tube in her stomach. The mom is looking for footie pajamas but instead of a zipper, she needs snaps or buttons for easy access to the tube. I thought maybe some of you mamas might be of help.
Thanks.

just cut a hole in the PJs where the tube is and iron an iron on patch around the hole so it doesn't fray. there are even premade tube patches for this very situation. They're called tummy tunnels. http://www.tummytunnels.com/examples.html

I was going to suggest contacting someone on Etsy to do custom pjs, but those tummy tunnels look very easy and cute.

I just rip out some of the side seam and fold it open and stitch the sides back up.

I saw a brochure at my son's doctors office with special clothes for kids with feeding tubes, but now I can't remember the name or find a link. Maybe someone else knows the name of the company?

If she knows anyone with a sewing machine, they could just put a buttonhole of whatever size necessary wherever they need it.

The side seam is a good idea if you don't have a sewing machine, but have needle and thread.

I just use my sewing machine to sew a buttonhole next to the tube. It works great. I have also cut open a square and hand sewn the flaps back so the whole button is exposed.

I just by the fleece pajamas from Target (they have at least 5T, possibly 6 and bigger), and cut a little T shape into them for the button. Since it's fleece, it doesn't ever fray.

I started off using only jammies that snapped down, etc. Then I finally started buying cheap jammies from Children's Orchard (resale shop) and cutting holes in them. I really wish I had thought of it 18 months earlier.
