Nip Piercings

Does anyone have them? Does it hurt? How is the healing process?
I had them. I took them out while BF'ing and plan to geth them re-pierced in the next few weeks. It hurt a bit but not too bad. Healing takes a few months (but it varies from individual to individual). I love the way they look and feel.

Always get them pierced with a straight barbell at first. Once they are healed, you can switch to hoops or a D-ring or whatever. You want to make sure you get a nice, straight piercing from the get-go.

I have them and LOVE them! It did hurt for me getting them done. It felt like a very sharp, deep pain. And then my whole breast felt sore for the rest of that day. But that was me. My piercer said everyone reacts differently. When she and a friend went to get theirs done at the same time, she said she barely felt it while her friend was sore. So, I guess it all depends on the person.
My healing process was good. I did have some bruising and slight bleeding on one side, but that cleared up quickly. They were "off limits" for about 3 months for some things (I can pm you if you want more detail) but other than that, they felt pretty good after a month.
I agree with ShadowMoon - go with the barbell. Waaay easier when healing. I switched to a ring after the 3 months and they started to get sore and crusty from them. I switched back to barballs without any issues. (I've had mine for a year now)

So, while they did hurt (again, for me) it would be something I would do again in a heartbeat. I really do love them. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies, I just might do it! I am going through a divorce so I am not worried about if they are off limits and I just feel like I need to do something liberating for myself!

Then liberated you will feel!

I felt pretty empowered after I had mine done. It signified my strength as a woman - that I can do anything I wanted to.

Go make your appt! And come back and tell us how it went.

Got mine done a couple of years ago. No problems...other than the first time I was outside in the cold weather... It felt cold all the way through my nipple. Not an ongoing problem though, I got used to it.

ON a side note, I did it after I weaned my youngest, and it made my milk come back in

i don't have mine done but i did get a special tattoo because I too am going through a divorce and needed that feeling as well. I wanted something symbolic of my goals to remind myself not to backslide into emotionally dangerous territory. congratulations on getting to this point in your healing. i'm sure the last while has been hard for you.

This is a question that I have wonderedbutnever asked. Can one breastfeed after nipple piercing? Doesn't it damage the tissue? I swear i just have no experience or knowledge please educate me.

I had mine done 2 years ago (June 08), I have very large breasts and large nipples. It didn't hurt all that much to get it done but I was so scared. They used a ring not a barbell but after about 3 months or so I switched to a barbell.

Personally I didn't like them, I took them out in October 09, but mine never healed correctly, they drained constantly, never got infected thankfully, but they never were normal. They were always sore. I did all the after care Iw as supposed to, but my body just can't handle piercings. Even my ears that my mom had pierced at 3 months old still get keloids and hurt when I wear any type of earring. I also had my nose done when I got my nipples done, and it did the same thing, it would swell, and be all red. I took that out just after I took my nipple rings out.

I am sure my experience is not the norm but I wanted to share it. i did like the way they looked, but just couldn't handle the soreness anymore- which is a good thing since I got preggo the next month and I have had VERY sore breasts and nips ever since lol

This is a very common question. I pierced my nips a few years before I became pregnant. I took them out during labor and BF'd my son for over 2 years. I had no problems whatsoever. (and I have recently re-pierced them).

I even had a bit of scar tissue build up but that didn't change anything either.

The only thing I wouldn't recommend is BF'ing with the jewelry still in the nipple. This can obviously cause choking, (if the jewelry comes out), latch issues, tearing, etc. Removing them during your BF'ing relationship and re-piercing them afterward is probably the easiest way, IMO.

Hope that helps a bit

Now I'm curious - I had mine pierced long ago - with hoops - and I took them out after 4-5 months because they never healed. I'm wondering if it would've healed with barbells - ?
Anyhow, I loved them and had no pain other than the initial pinch as it is done - not bad, no biggie.... but they never would heal.
I breastfed with no issue. If anything, I had an extra couple of holes for the milk
Would love to get them redone if the chances of healing were better.........

I had my nips pierced for about 2 years and took them out about a year before DS1 was born. I do have some small scars, but no problem for breastfeeding at all.

I took them out because I lost sensation and they were annoying.

I've had mine pierced for eight years now. I had them for almost four years when my son was born, didn't let them close up while I breastfed for three years, and all has been well. I love them! The pain wasn't bad at all getting them pierced, and the healing was pretty easy.
