Sewing Tips for Bamboo Velour

Thread Starter
I just got 2 yds of bamboo velour and I'm ready to sew up some diapers! Anyone with experience/tips before I start cutting? Does it stretch funny or is it hard to handle? I'm planning on serging instead of turning and topstitching. And I think I'm just going to do some contour to lay inside my RRPs.

TIA!

pin the heck out of it!

The first time I serged with my bamboo velour it stretched out sooooo much because I didn't pin enough!

I haven't used bamboo velour, but have used cotton velour. It shreds when cutting and has curled at the cut edges. Straight pins are my best friend right now!! Another thing that has helped me, when I used super stretchy panne velour, was to spray with spray starch to stiffen the fabric before sewing. It has helped tremendously.

Use something a little less stretch between your velour layers. I like to use cotton fleece. I then use the quilters fabric spray glue (Quilt basting spray) to hold everything together. You will also want to adjust your differential feed on your serger otherwise you will get a wavy edge. I would practice on a scrap piece first
