How much bigger are boys??

We are pg with what will likely be our last - and shocked to find out, it's a boy! After 4 girls we were all very surprised to say the least!

We have big babies, who come late. The girls have all been big, with *very* big heads...and I have delivered 2 of them face up.

8 lbs 9 oz
9 lbs 3 oz
9 lbs 12 oz
9 lbs 6.5 oz

How much bigger was your subsequent boy than girls? Is there an average to how much bigger?

Dh's mother had a csec due to a face presentation, as did dh's grandmother with his father. So needless to say that makes me more than a little nervous, despite having a 'proven' pelvis and having 3 totally unmedicated and 2 HB's.

Any experiences or words of encouragement?

1st baby - girl - 8 lbs 9 oz
2nd baby - boy - 8 lbs 3 oz.

No guarantees boys are bigger

We'll have to see how it goes with this one...

#1 Boy 10 lbs
#2 Boy 9 lbs 3 oz
#3 Girl 9 lbs 7 oz

Sorry, this is in kilos, but
DS1 3.7kg
DD1 3.4kg
DS2 3.2kg
DD2 3.5 kg

So as u can see my second son was my smallest child and he still is quite small. He was also my only child who came past his due date. My eldest son is the biggest and he came 2 wks early, so there is really no telling!

Words of encouragement:

Think and visualise only positive birth thoughts and remember:

You are an awesome warrior birthing goddess!
You can do anything!

my DS was a full pound bigger than my DD (7lbs 2 oz, 8lbs 2 oz) but his head was 'only' 1/4 in bigger.. (15in) .. my DS came 2 weeks later than my DD too (and that was with being induced at 41 weeks) i'm not really worried about a bigger baby, but i am worried about bigger heads and was glad for the increase of only 1/4 of an inch...

My Mom had 3 girls one boy. The biggest was my sister by almost a pound. The rest of us were all 7 pounds some she was over 8. My boys were small.

DS1 was 6 pounds 15 ounces
DS2 was 7 pounds 4 ounces

just what i was coming back to post! depends on how the bigger comes about, if it's just wonderfully happy baby padding, it doesn't really make a difference, only if it's larger head or shoulders

Hopefully this is an old wive's tale!!!

DS 6 lb. 2 oz.
DD 8 lb. 8 oz. (easier time pushing her out though)

DS is my oldest and smallest and my only one born before 41 weeks.

My brother was the middle child and the smallest.

DD#1- 8.1
DS#1- 9.12
DD#2- 9.6 (Hardest birth)
DS#2- 9.4 (Easiest birth)

I have never seen a pattern in baby sizes. Good luck with your birth!!

DD was born at 39 wks and was 8. 14 oz
DS was born at 40 + 3 and was 9. 2 oz

I think nutrition plays a bigger role than gender.

Sadly...that's not so reassuring since dh and his father were both csections...giant heads with face presentation. Dh's head is slightly smaller than his father's, but both of them can hardly ever find hats to fit. Dh also has big shoulders.

Surely after birthing 4 of our girls it can't be so bad that I couldn't do it, right? I'm trying to keep in mind that I birthed 2 of them face up...and even a bigger-headed baby should come fine as long as he's positioned well, right?

In order....

ds#1 7lbs 11oz
ds#2 7lbs 3 oz
ds#3 10 lbs *easiest and fastest birth
dd#1 8lbs 8oz

Two of my boys were smaller (weight wise) than my girl and one of them was the same weight. My girl was signifigantly shorter than all of my boys, though, and was the biggest around. She was also my easiest birth. Actually, my two bigger kids (8lb 10oz) were my easiest births by far.

my DD was 10 lbs 4 oz.
my DS was 7lbs 7oz.
No anomalies with either (GD or anything), but they did have two different dads. They both had similar head size, and length.

My DD was 2 lbs heavier than both my boys and was longer with bigger head and shoulders. She was my first and only vag birth too(easiest too). I'm planning a HBA2C with baby boy number 3. So boys have been smaller for me.

DD 10lbs 4oz 22in long 14.5 inch shoulders
DS 7lbs 14oz 19 in long I think his shoulders were 13 inches
DS 8 lbs 3 oz 21 inches long do not know what his shoulders were.

My daughter was my largest.
My DS was the smallest.

DS: 8 lb 3 oz at 39 weeks
DD1: 10 lb at 39w 6d
DD2: 9 lb 9 oz at 38w
