I've always been a big milk drinker (not raw milk - the grocery store-pasteurized type). I've also been a carb and sugar addict, I now realize. So, I've been fighting yeast and decided to go gluten free since this past Sunday and do a low-carb higher protein type diet, along with taking candidase (an enzyme to fight the yeast). I've been feeling great -- the yeast is definately going away because I've had oral thrush that is finally healing. Anyway, a few weeks ago I cut out all sugars and refined flour, I cut back on milk. I just realized that I haven't had a glass of milk in at least a week -- maybe a little longer, but I've had butter, cheese and yogurt in small quantities. Yesterday I drank a small glass of milk and noticed a little bit of stomach cramps. Last night had a bowl of puffed millet with some milk (I was really hungry and couldn't make a full meal) and felt terribly ill afterwards. I had cramping, nausea, I felt like I could be sick for about 30 minutes afterwards and then the worst was over but I still felt icky afterwards. Has anyone ever experienced this? I've never felt sick like before after drinking milk (I'm not one to get stomach cramps for any reason other than sickness).

DH gets stomach cramps/gas after milk, if he drinks it after he hasn't had it for a few weeks or if he drinks a lot of it. He'll go for a week or more with no milk, then have a cereal craving in the evening. Ugh for those of us who share a bedroom with him!
And, I have a girlfriend who developed an allergy to the antibiotics in "regular" milk. She has to drink organic, antibiotic-free milk.

This is so interesting. I am reading the H & H forum in hopes to discover folks in the same boat as me (having digestive distress). I am also reading a very interesting book called 'Breaking the Vicious Cycle' about food allergies and other more complex disorders all due to intestinal health.
Anyway, I just read this one chapter and it discusses the relationship between gluten and diary allergy and then goes on to say that "butter, cheese and yogurt" are usually tolerated, but milk and cream and such are not.
I have become intolerant to gluten and diary for a number of years now. You may have one of these 'disorders' and be sensitive to gluten and diary (and possibly other things) and that is what is creating the digestive distress.
The book is very informed and goes well beyond what you have asked, but I found your post almost identical in description to what I just read.
