Anyone used this pool?

I'm almost 6' and am realizing I better have a big enough pool! I am hoping DH can get in the pool with me. I had thought about La Bassine, but then I saw this http://www.yourwaterbirth.com/aquabo...s-c-1_437.html
and am wondering if this would be better...

anyone?

I ended up using my tub, but the midwives advised that anything that allows you to keep your midsection submerged even when sitting up is ideal.

The local birth center actually buys inflatable kiddie pools from Walmart or Target I believe. Just look at the measurements and you may be able find one that is deep enough AND wide enough that your husband can join you if you like. It's generally a more cost effective option.

If cost isn't a concern, I'd apply the same test to the birthing tub you are looking at. If the measurements allow for what you need, then go for it! (that tub looks great )

I used it during my twins birth 6 weeks ago. It was great and HUGE!!

that is the one that I want, but we've decided to go with a stock tank because that one just takes up too much floor space for what we have available.

That's so good to hear! Just a question, did you have a midwife present? Was she able to reach into the tub (if she needed to)? I'm concerned the sides might be too high.

We did have a midwife and she was able to reach in just fine. I am fairly tall but have short legs. I wanted a deep tub so that my belly could be covered. I was able to step in and out of it just fine and I actually sat in it the short way towards the end because I was almost floating away in it the long way - DH did not sit in there with me but there would be plenty of room for two people. We kept adding more hot water as time went on.

I used the Birth Pool In a Box (regular size, not the mini) and was really, really happy with it. I didn't want my husband in the water with me, but he would have fit.

I have also used the La Bassine and felt it was too small, and the sides were not supportive enough (could not lean on them during ctx as water sloshed out).

From the point of view of a midwife: I haven't assisted at a birth with a client using this particular pool, although it looks great. I did assist at a waterbirth over the weekend with a client in the Birth Tub in a Box, which appears to be very similar. The sides were sturdy, there were several pairs of handles (nice so that you have something to grab while you're in different positions, and I was able to reach the baby. I'm relatively short, and I've not yet had an issue with being able to reach. I do carry a full change of clothes, though, because invariably I lean into the water and get all wet!

I'm nearly 6' as well and I used this one http://www.yourwaterbirth.com/other-...pool-p-39.html

I was able to stretch out my legs all the way across, and almost recline fully. It was perfect in depth and the price was right too. It has like 4 air chambers and was very sturdy to lean on the side (but not strong enough to sit on). Me, DH, DD, and the two MWs could have probably all sat indian style in it together. It's huge!

Oh wow, this is the same one we are planning on using. I'm glad it works well! How about maintaining the heat? What did you do for that?

We started filling it at 6pm when I was at 6 cm and added a couple of pots of boiling water hourly or so (this was the job of the 2 apprentice MWs). DS was born shortly after midnight so it wasn't that bad I suppose (to add water). Hopefully your labor will be speedy!

wow! This is so much more in our price range! Just a few questions - was it easy to fill and drain? Did it hold the heat of the water?
To fill it faster (because I was getting more and more vocal ), we ran hoses from 2 faucets. It was like a little slice of heaven getting into that thing- totally! As far as draining, we used the electric drill pump http://www.yourwaterbirth.com/water-...ump-p-867.html and then when it was almost empty, DH took it out, gave it a Dawn scrub, dried it, and packed it away for the summer. It's going to be fun to get into with DS

I have nothing to compare it to, but it was fine with the apprentice MWs and DH dumping pots of boiling water into it.They kept checking the temp to make sure it stayed between 97 and 99 F.

I really like that there is a lid. We might have to fill ours in advance because my last labor was kind of fast. I also really like how deep it is. Other birth tubs don't look deep enough to me.

I used la bassine the first time. i did not last to long in the pool i coudl not get comfortable i ended up breaking my water and then getting out after 20 min. this time i want to really try my best to do a water birth its my last home birth my last birth. I will try to be in the tub and then i have a back up pool a cheaper one the kiddie pool due to not knowing if i wil stay in it and i dont want to spend that kind of money.

pool

I used a very similar pool and it was great. It also had sturdy sides, was nice and deep, oval shaped so I could stretch out my legs, cushioned bottom, - that one looks great too
