When did you stop calling your dc "the baby" - Page 3

I still call my 1st grader "baby" or "babygirl." To me that's really different than calling her "the baby."
I stopped that ages ago.
DD2 is a literal baby so we call her "the baby." I imagine I will stop sometime before she's two.
So, people who are saying their youngest is always the baby, do you actually say, "I'm picking the baby up from school." "The baby wants sushi for dinner." "The baby is going to Daisy Scouts. " Because that just sounds so strange to me.

I call him "my baby" or say "hey, baby" etc. but I don't refer to him as The Baby when talking to others about him. We have never done this, though -- not even when our babies were newborns. We've always called them by their names.

DD is 4 and we still call her "The Baby". I'm sure that will stop when DS arrives in May, though.

as a general rule when I had the next one and the previous one was no longer "the baby" Ava is going on 8 and I still refer to her as "the baby".

DD2 is almost 4 and we still call her the baby. Come to think of it, my MIL still refers to DH as "the baby" and he's 46 !

I'm just curious if anyone else does this? When did your baby stop being THE baby?

We are trying to stop doing it because there's another baby on the way.

Didn't read other replies, but I don't think we ever called our daughter the baby.
My mil referred to her as the baby when she was a baby and it annoyed me. We've always called her by name or by a nickname.

It's getting less but I still refer to the 3 year old as 'the baby'. Mostly when talking to others and she's not nearby. It sounds allright to me to say "The baby wants num num", or "I need to put the baby to bed", but if I listen to myself I think it sounds a little funny to say "The baby climbed the tree today" or "The baby can spell c.a.t.".

DD1 has always been "my baby," "baby girl," or just "baby." Even now with the new baby in the house, it still sticks. I think she likes it, it makes her still feel important.
