Is anti-circ and pro-circ just like David and Goliath?

Being an intactivist can be so mentally and emotionally draining. Everytime I throw facts and reasons why people shouldn't circ, everything seems to bounce off of their one liners, "It's cleaner" "I want him to look like daddy", like they're made of rubber and everything just bounces back.

We are all David, fighting against Goliath (the traditional rumors and misinformation, and the medical communities that push for circs). The funny thing is, I could argue with someone FOR YEARS and not persuade them, but as soon a doctor that is against circ tells them, "It's really not necessary", it changes their mind IMMEDIATELY.

It's unfortunate that we continue to put so much blind faith in doctors and often do what they say on a whim. They may have the medical degree, but they're human just like we are, and can make mistakes and bad judgements just like the rest of us. As long as most of them continue to push for circs, we'll always be the little guy in the fight. How can we fight a billion or trillion dollar industry? ...We need a superhero. We'll call him No-circ Man. Any volunteers?

Well, you know, David was circed and Goliath probably wasn't...

I gotta say that I think the tide is really turning. It's true that a lot of the establishment still pushes for it, but that seems more like left over ignorance and insecurities that are still playing out. It is very sad that baby boys are the victims of this, but it's always been like that unfortunately; the young always suffer the most when it comes to the consequences of society's ignorance. When I look at blogs and articles online, I see a lot of really impassioned and smart pleas for keeping babies intact. We have the truth, both the scientific and emotional truth, on our side and that is what is important. Goliath has been on his knees for awhile now and we're getting through to more and more of the people on the other side of him. Society, thanks to the internet, has given us the tools to sling our rocks more effectively and have a greater impact on more people than ever before. More and more people are realizing exactly what you're saying: any given doctor is not going to be right about anything 100% of the time. People are coming to understand that we, as parents and patients, owe it to ourselves and our children to understand and evaluate what the establishment tells us and figure out if it actually makes sense. Not everyone is going to be able to make this leap, but the more people who do, the more the conventional wisdom on circumcision will change and the more successes we will have.

I'm just happy I've come to this fight now, at a time that we can both sling our rocks from our living rooms AND get the word to more people than was ever possible before. Imagine the pain of the intactavist in the 60's or 70's when the American medical establishment was much more in agreement on this issue and it was near impossible to get people information on circumcision without it being from a doctor.
