I own my own business. On one hand, I've managed to create the flexibility of working 3x/week, and taking baby with me or working from home the other days.
My baby is 8 months old and goes to daycare those 3x/week. He's been EBF except for starting some solids. He loved solids at first, though now he's slid backwards since being sick a few times.
Though I'm the "boss", and can't get in trouble for pumping too much, I am finding it increasingly difficult to have any time at all during the day to pump. The buck stops with me, and sometimes I'm in the middle of a crisis, or often simply just trying to squeeze in my work. And of course I've been playing catch-up since he's been born and I took more time off at first.
What is the minimum times I can pump to maintain my supply? Usually I end up pumping twice, but lately I really only feel I can squeeze in 1 pumping. I've never had a problem with supply. I've been getting up 1st thing in the morning and doing a pumping session where I've been getting anywhere from 5-9 oz. Then my other sessions I get anywhere from 4-8 oz. each time (decreasing when the day goes on). When I'm getting my period, this decreases to 2-4 oz.
Baby has been very random on how much he is eating while at daycare. Some days he will drink 15 oz. Other days he will only take 1 4oz bottle.
I want to make it 1 full year of breastfeeding being his main source of nutrition. After that, I'm willing for cow's milk to play a role, and of course increasing solids. I'm not necessarily looking to have him nurse until 3-4 years old. I'm ok with weaning anytime between 1 & 2.
THoughts???
