cast iron frying pan

Does anyone have a recommendation (website, since I need to purchase it over the internet) for a reasonably good cast iron frying pan that is not too expensive since I will probably have to pay a huge shipping cost? Thanks!

Why do you have to buy it online? Cast iron pans are HEAVY, you can usually find decent ones in the hardware store. As long as you season it well it should work great.

I think I would do amazon, they have free shipping

I am in Japan and I tried to look for them here but can't find any at the stores. Seems like everything is the non-stick teflon pans. (Yeah, I didn't want to order online because I know they are heavy! ..... I wonder if I'm overlooking some source that would sell it here though.)

I'm very sorry that I can't help you with a source, although I recommend the Lodge Logic pans. I'm very happy with mine.

I wonder though if you are overlooking suppliers in Japan. Japanese cast iron is well known - cast iron tea pots, woks and frypans seem to be available in North America:

My family has an ancient cast iron rice pot from Japan that is amazing. My siblings and I will likely have a terrific fight over it some day.

You can find Le Creuset nearly everywhere in the world, even in Japan:

I second the recommendation for Lodge Logic but I hope you can find something in Japan so you don't have to deal with shipping! When I was in the UAE I had a hard time finding cast iron but ended up finding some in a specialty kitchen store in the mall, may have even been lodge logic...

Another vote for lodge logic - amazon has it for decent prices though I haven't a clue about shipping to japan. Or you could just search on google.jp for cast iron and see if that brings up any hints. GOod luck!!

Not sure if Overstock.com ships overseas but they do have cast iron and they have a set low shipping rate here in the US.
