Weight limit for stretchy wrap

Is there a weight limit for stretchy wraps? I have a peapod wrap, and a 21 lb 5 month old baby... I'd like to continue wearing him, but I've started noticing how low he hangs in the wrap!

Is it okay to keep wearing him like this? Is there another carrier recommended for larger babies?

If you want to keep using your stretchy wrap, you'll have to start with it really really tight to compensate for the sagging. Most mamas that like wrapping and have a stretchy wrap, move on to a woven wrap at the point you are now.

I had to stop with my stretchy wrap at about 28lbs. I went to a Babyhawk mai tai after that and used that till my son was about 40lbs.

Once B reached about 25 lbs I finally packed away my moby and used the Mei Tai solely. I missed wrapping though, I have hopes to expand my babywearing collection with a woven wrap.

I barely got any use out of the stretchy wrap as my babies became big. The woven wrap was so much more comfy. I have always thought stretchy wraps were really for the first 3mo.

Wow - I feel like I barely got to use the stretchy wrap!

I like the look of the BabyHawk Mei Tai though! Seems really easy to put on...

I think it partly depends on your wrap as well. I made my own, when I compared it to an actual Moby I was surprised how thin & stretchy the moby is in comparison to my own.

I can still front carry ds2 pretty comfortably with my moby and he's a hefty 21+lbs at 6 mo. But I do a lot of back carries when I need to get stuff done and a woven wrap is a lot safer for that.
