pump recommendations?

My twins are three weeks old. At some point, I am going to have to go back to work at least part-time. I see some different pump options at different stores. The variation in price is huge. And I've never done this before, so I don't know what I am looking for in a pump.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

My suggestion is to buy the Ameda Purely Yours or a Lansinoh Double Pump (same pump, different colors-lterally). If you do a search there are tons of posts regarding pumps. The Ameda and Lansinoh go for apprx. $140 without the carry case and icepacks. I just used a diaper bag to carry it.
You may also want to look into renting a hospital grade pump for nursing twins. Your insurance may even cover the rental or a portion of the cost of a personal pump.
Do you qualify for WIC? In a lot of offices they will give you a double pump or loan you one if you return to work and are brerastfeeding.

I love my Playtex Embrace! I had a Medela PIS with my first two kids and from my experience the Playtex Embrace has been much more effective! I had a hard time with my milk not letting down with the Medela, but once I started using the Playtex I had no issues. I believe the Playtex is around $70. Another thing I love about it is the Medela bottles and storage bottles will attach to the Playtex!

I love my Medela PISA! It's the only one we use in our family. My aunt does lactation, so we went with her recommendation. But, I will say I just recently had a problem and Medela has excellent customer service. They didn't need to send me a new cord, as I am way past my 90 days for the cord warranty, and they still sent me a free one at their expense.

Having used quite a few different manual and electric pumps, I prefer the ameda purely yours, or lansinoh double pump. I was able to extract much more using this pump over the medela pump in style. I also recommend going to wic, as I got my pump from there when I was going back to work. My office has also lent out hospital grade pumps as needed as well.
