Return of Cycle

I have breastfeed all 3 of my children. With my first my period came back at 14 months, second ds at 22 months. I have a almost 3 month old and have some spotting today. I know that some women do start again this soon, but I can't understand why it is happening to me so soon on my 3rd child. I am only getting older, I should be less fertile, lol.
Nothing is different this time. She does occassionally take a paci, but less than the other babies did. We cosleep. Definitely making a lot of milk as she is 17lbs! I don't even have a bottle in the house and don't pump.

I don't know if it is really a period at all. It is really more like the end of postpartum bleeding, very very light. I don't feel crampy at all.

Has anyone esle gotten their period back early after getting it late with previous babies?

Maybe (hopefully!) it's not a period, just some spotting for whatever reason. Infections (bladder or vaginal) can cause spotting. Even intercourse, if there was some irritation.

I wonder if you're in better physical shape? Maybe longer between babies? With my twins, I went almost 2 years w/out a period, with my toddler, only 9 months. One baby, half the stimulation, so my period returned in half the time. . . but I'm much better fed (ahem) with this baby - with my twins I really struggled to maintain body weight while nursing, and I wonder if that's part of why it came back faster. I'm not sure I could have physically sustained a pregnancy while nursing twins.

Women also tend to release more eggs as they get older (higher chance of twins in mid-late thirties), sort of a "use it or lose it" response by the body, so maybe it could be that as well - your fertility returning more quickly because you are closer to the end of your fertile years.

Or. . . you don't say how old you are, but is perimenopause too remote a possibility? Maybe you won't return to normal menstruation at all, but are starting to have hormonal changes in the direction of menopause. That could cause spotting!
