Is this actually going to work?

Out of sheer curiosity, I broke down and ordered a Flip diaper with a stay-dry liner and an extra stay dry liner. After waiting for what seemed like a long time for it to arrive because of the back order, it finally arrived yesterday.

I'm looking at this thing and wondering if it is actually going to work as an AI2. The cover looks well made, for a cover. The insert looks well made for an insert, but is this actually going to work? As in, will I truly be able to put a liner in this cover and have no leaks and really use the cover again with a fresh liner when the liner gets dirty? I'm really having my doubts that this can hold my super-pee-er's pee. And not get ebf poo everywhere? Is this different than laying a tri-folded prefold in a cover, because that totally didn't work for us.

Also, talk to me about prepping the cover and the inserts.

I've found it works for pee, but not poop. Really though, no pocket/AIO/AI2 works for poop for us. I really think a fastened prefold or a fitted, with a separate cover, is the way to go for poop-proofness.

I never tried them but they look really cool. I like that you can buy the inserts and use them in something else and I'm thinking I might get some and use them with my prefolds.
Hope they work for you.

Yeah, see I love me some fitteds and a cover. That's my system of choice. Hubby hates the extra step of putting a cover over the fitted (pffft), and he prefers our AIO, which are white industrial diapers and boring for me. I was hoping the Flip would be the middle ground... Quick and easy like an AIO but with some color and cuteness. And shorter drying time.

I'll try this out, but I am extremely dubious. If all else fails, I'll use the cover over my bamboo fitteds and the inserts in my older-than-the-hills but still functioning fitteds to boost absorbency.
