I just had to read a lot of old threads, do some googling for dosing and toxicity, like that. Old threads by Momtezuma Tuatara are a great resource for nutrient discussion, there's a lot on-topic in the Vaccination Archives.

For measles, pre-formed vitamin A (from animal products, not beta-carotene from plants) is a widely used treatment. I think it's WHO that has dosing guidelines, they are a lot higher than most people would expect wrt toxicity. Toxicity is harder to achieve than one would expect.

I don't know of any books that use dosages as high as I think are appropriate. There's a book, Janet Zand's Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child that discusses nutritional supplementation some, but IMO the dosages she uses for things tend to be very low (and she doesn't discuss individual variation) plus she recommends beta-carotene which I think is completely inappropriate. Completely. But it's something to start with and I've gotten other good ideas from the book.
