X-large Muslim moms and non Muslim moms/ clothing/dressing question.

As Salaamu Alaikum, ladies

I'm a very X-large momma. I work in the public and try my best to look presentable. I dress accordng to Quran & sunnah (i.e.) Long skirts, shirts, full covering of head down over my breasts. I know there are other moms or women out there who dress similar to Muslim women by choice.

My problem is.. When I find something, I wear it until it almost falls apart. Not trying to be offensive, but.. I am an American, I put together diverse styles that fit under the sunnah way of dressing. I'm at the 2nd hand store, online buying my clothes. Right now, I look terrible.

I'm out there representing, as they say. I'm very proud and comfortable being a muslim dressing according to the sunnah. I've seen large skirts online that are not to my liking for large women. The tops, I'm not too upset with, the hijabs are too small for my frame, too thick and too busy looking. There is a wonderful store on ebay where I buy my tops, but not all of them are long sleeves and some are oooh ooh too expensive. I enjoy comfortable flowing clothes tops, skirts that are long stretchy tailored looking. I don't like to layer up my clothes.

Any extra large momma's (Muslim or not) out there have my problem, or do you now any online stores that have beautiful comfortable, long straight cut skirts or clothes? PS, anyone know where I can get some low heel granny boots and comfortable bras?

J Style has great full-length denim skirts. Most do not have slits, but check--as I made a mistake and one did. http://www.denimskirts.com/plsilodesk.html

For shirts and stuff, I usually buy from Lane Bryant, Avenue, Land's End, etc. If you have a Ashley Stuart--they can also be a good source of modest clothes. Online...J. Jill, Silhouettes, and Coldwater Creek are usually good.

For traditional Islamic garb (even though I'm American), I order either Salwar Kameez.... or Abayas. For Salwar Kameez, eastessence.com is pretty affordable. Al Hannah sometimes has stuff as well. For Abayas, I like IslamicBoutique.com

Shukr is O.K., but the fit used to be weird on me. I'm 5'7"...and everything was way too long. I haven't ordered skirts from them in probably 6 years, so I don't know if that's changed or not.

In my pre-Muslim days, I bought a few slinky dresses from Peggy Lutz. They were expensive, but very well made. She definitely has modest stuff. www.plus-size.com

For a modest swimsuit, I bought from SplashWear, and liked it.

Larger sizes of Shukr skirts do need a hem on most people, but they're still worth it IMO so long as you keep away from things like hemline embroidery and such.

al-Mujalbaba and Sunnah Style both carry comfortable, well-made, larger size hijabs in solid colors.

ETA: Oh ... and while it takes some wading through to find the good stuff, Spiegel often carries long skirts as well, and I'm pretty sure they have a wide range of plus sizes.
