So this is the 2nd pregnancy I've nursed through, though this time I'm nursing both girls during it instead of just one. Last pg DD1 never really showed an increased interest at the end of my pregnancy. I mean, she was thrilled for the colostrum (though I get it early on) but never freaked out about it or anything. Now, DD2 is totally flipping out about her "milkies". I've had colostrum for quite some time now (and in good amounts...I'm one of "those" moms I guess), so it's not anything new to her. But over the last few days she's been asking (no, throwing fits) to nurse CONSTANTLY. That is no exaggeration...I mean, at least every 3-5 minutes she asks (if she's not already nursing, obviously!!), and she's even been nightweaned for a while (like 7 months) but spent 2 hours last night screaming and whining off and on for milk. She's not ill or anything (she acts totally different when she is), she's getting plenty to eat and drink otherwise, and I can't imagine it's because she just suddenly decided she likes it, because like I said, she's been having it for some time now and has nursed like normal until the last couple days. I feed her on demand pretty much throughout the day but I can't keep up with her like this! I'm doing my best but I get pretty sore at latch during the end of my pg's and so it's definitely not comfortable, plus at this point it's difficult to comfortably nurse her PERIOD (no matter what the position or where we're at) just because of my belly.
Anyone else experience this? Someone suggested it might have to do with the new LO's arrival being just around the corner...? Does she know something I don't?
It also makes me a little nervous because, while we've been down the tandem nursing road before and handled it fine, I will be nursing 3 once the baby comes and I just hope DD2 doesn't continue this "must be on the boob constantly" thing because obviously that won't be possible.
