Anyone have something they can recommend??
ds is a pretty good speller but won't sit for long. ds 10 will sit a little longer
I am looking for something simple and not too $$$$, something that I can use with both of them.
someone mentioned sequential spelling, anyone have an opinion??

I used Sequential Spelling at first with my daughter when she was 9 & 10. Then when she was 10 I switched to All-About-Spelling. I started her with Level One because I really wanted to start from the beginning with her learning the phonograms and all the spelling rules. She was in school until the 3rd grade and I really don't think she learned (what I believe to be) the whole basis of reading and spelling.

She zoomed through Level One in no time at all and now we're on Level Two. Unfortunately, I've been slacking a little bit... ... otherwise we'd probably be on Level Three by now.

My 8 year old is now using the Level One -- so I definitely got my money's worth!

We like our Spelling Workout books. My 3rd grader is using level C, which hasn't been at all challenging for him until recently, about halfway through the book. He now needs my involvement to help him with more difficult concepts, like knife - knives. He's not a natural speller or writer but these activities are fun and he can complete them on his own once I've helped him with the instructions. The book was around $10, I think.

My 11yo has been using http://www.aaaspell.com for the last couple years and really likes it. You can just use the lists of words or use their online practice games.

I use Sequential Spellingwith my 9 y/o ds and really like it. We don't spend a lot of time on it, it was inexpensive, and my ds' spelling is improoving!

thanks for all the great suggestions
I bookmarked the aaaspell and mt 9 year old already started with one list.
I am going to order sequential spelling and see how that goes.
btw, the spellcity is very similar to aaa spell, both look great
