Baby Names - Sharing/Saving/Still Deciding? - Page 2

We've been going back and forth on names.

Right now the ones we like are Natalia Jeanae for a girl. I really like the name Natalia and Jeanae is my middle name who I got from my grandma Jeanie. The sort of sad thing about the name is if this LO is a girl, both our girls will have names rom CSI Miami LOL. DD was named after Calli from there (DH really liked the name) and Natalia is another character on the show.

For a boy we have picked, for now, Toryn Keam, although I am not sure I am totally in love with it as it doesn't really flow. Toryn is a name DH and I like and Keam is from a bunch of the guys in our families. Kenneth-DH's great uncle, Edward-my dad, Arthur-my grandpa and Micheal-DH's dad.

Don't be surprised if we are changing our name selection right up until birth though haha.

I love the name Zephyr for a boy! Unfortunately, that - along with Ariadne for a girl - have been strongly vetoed by my husband.

BOY: Gavin Dax
GIRL: Penelope --- (no middle name yet, maybe Sage?)

For girls (and I'm 99% sure this is a girl, though we won't know till' birth) we like Charlotte Marie, Ava Jane, Katherine (Kate) Marie, Anna and Phoebe.....

Someone above mentioned maggie. I've always liked that name too. If I ever have twins, I want Meg and Jack. (Assuming here that I could pick that, lol).
I also like Ian for a boy and Sheridan and Esther for girls.

We didn't keep DS' name a secret but this time around we're not sharing any of the names we decide are our favorites with anyone we know IRL.

We're letting the gender be a surprise so I'm afraid I'll totally change my mind once the baby gets here and just pull a name out of the air. Then I'll have to deal with our friends and family all saying, "But I thought you liked ____!"

It shouldn't be that big of a deal but for some reason it is to everyone. Probably because they all feel like they should have some sort of say in the matter. Silly geese.

My husband is convinced this baby is a girl. The girl name we love is: Lucca.

We can't agree on a boy name we both like at all so far but we still have awhile.

I, too, get very pissed when someone IRL steals a name that I've used. I've had someone I used to be friends with name her son the same name as my oldest a year after I had him. I don't know...call me selfish but I hated it, lol. I mean, I don't own the name...but it's not like it was common. Of ALL the names in the world she chose the one *I did. grrr. I know, stupid. But, we don't keep the names from people IRL. If they steal my name they better be prepared to receive my wrath. LMAO!

As for not sharing online, I don't get it. No offense to anyone else, I'm sure you all have your reasons MDC is a big place and if someone across the country (or world for that matter) decides to use my name, good for them. As long as I don't know them hahaha! Actually, I like when people share names because it gives me an idea of what's getting popular. For example, Oliver. LOVE the name. My fave boy names (besides the 2 I already have) but a lot of people are using it and I have this thing about not naming with popular names. So we decided to skip it (even though, great choice everyone!!).
My kids are Jude Maximus, Delaney Belle and Ezra Locke. DD's name is the most common, but that's because DH named her. I picked the rest, he just agreed, lol. I've shared my names a billion times already. In case you missed them, Romy for a girl (Fay, Clover or Calliope for a middle name) and probably Felix for a boy (middle name undecided). Romy hasn't been in the top 1000 with SS EVER, so, if you like the name, you can use it...I don't think it'll make a dent on it's popularity!

I am starting to get a feeling that it's a boy though. I really like the name Duncan, but dh says there is too much opportunity for ridicule because or Dunkin Donuts (we live in New England). Any thoughts?
The past 2 babes I was worried about popularity and we ended up with one of the most popular boy names out there. It just took off the year we chose it. This time I am not so stressed about it. I really like Alexander and we'd probably call him Alex.

Last time, we couldn't come up with a boy name, but DD is Giovanna Maria. I love the name Eve, but we like traditional Italian, so I might have to do some girl digging.

This time, we can't come up with a girl name, but we're leaning toward Alessandro Jackson for a boy. I liked Jackson for a first name, but then that crazy Michael guy had to go and pass away and bring Jackson up to the top of the list for the first time in forever. Not that I don't like his music, but I really didn't like him as a person (I pity him) and certianly wouldn't name a kid after him...well, we may still end up with it. We'll see when I'm further along.

I think if he was eating a donut, people would joke, but not other times.

Also, Duncan is a contender for mn with our boy, too. Like a PP poster said, he might get teased if someone was eating a donut, but only then....and that's not too bad! *I actually think Duncan Macleod of the Clan Macloed....but maybe I'm a big nerd? hahaha
Oh, and I LOVE the name Simon, but DH said the same thing...grrrr.

I must be weird because I hear Simon and think of that game with the four lights on it that light up in order and you have to press them in the same order...isn't that a Simon?

I liked Sampson, but DH looked at me like I was crazy or something. So I guess those boys do get veto power (sometimes.)

Thank you all for sharing your ideas!! Both DH and I are totally stumped. Our first is Liberty Ann "Libby" and we love that and it's completely her but now we have no ideas! DH loves William but it's sooo popular! And we're pretty picky. We want something that has:
Strong meaning
Original (NOT high on the popularity lists)
Feminine/masculine

I am grateful for people sharing their ideas! I don't know anyone on MDC IRL so I'm not worried about that. Anyone can "steal" my ideas, hey imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? But I do understand people wanting to keep the names to themselves. My in-laws are going crazy that we aren't going to find out what the baby is and name him/her beforehand but oh well!!
I love some of y'alls ideas! Oliver is awesome and so is Zander. Love the old fashioned girls' names too. I love lots of the others too, just can't remember them all.

For those interested in Z names: My daughter's name is Zora. Feel free to use it! I was terribly concerned when pregnant with her that it would become the next celebrity baby name, but it didn't, and now I'd like to see it in more use.

For #2, I feel pretty strongly about a girl name, and DH really likes it too, but I'm not sharing yet... not because I'm afraid of someone "stealing" it (it's very popular in the UK but only moderately so in the US) but because I tend to get bored of a name after I talk about it. Isn't that silly? But I'll tell you that if it's a girl, her middle name will be probably be Louise for DH's grandmother. Not at all sure about boy names.

Your kids all have wonderful names! I really love those.

Our son's name is Cain Flash. My husband's dad's name is Flash. (Not his birth name but no one has used his given name since he was 20.)

In our area the name 'Cain' gets us lots of looks. Especially after we tell them the spelling. Then of course everyone thinks they're being clever and original when they say something like, "Gonna name the next one Abel?! HAHA"

I think I already posted this in another name thread but I will repost here anyway. I don't mind telling people my choices.

My oldest son from a previous marriage was named after his bio father's grandfather (middle name) and godfather (first name). My ex is Sicilian and so I didn't mind using a somewhat ethnic sounding middle name. I wanted a first name that wouldn't sound too ethnic yet would sound okay with the middle an last names. So Nicolas (I liked that spelling better with the last name) Antonio.

My second son was named Brady Payton. My husband really wanted to name our son after Walter Payton so hence the middle name. The first name was because I couldn't come up with a boy's name that I liked and my SIL loved Brady so the day after he was born, I tired of thinking about it and just went with it.

This time around I really like Kieran for a boy though no one else likes it because they think it sounds too girly. I really like it though. It would likely be Kieran Michael. If this baby is a girl, her name will likely be Katherine Linda (Linda after my deceased MIL)

I really like Kieran, and I already knew it was a boy name because we used to watch an Irish TV show with a character by that name. I can understand how most people would be unfamiliar with it, though. But, eh, they'll get used to it.

We don't share potential baby names IRL either, not because I'm worried someone will steal them but because I can't be bothered dealing with people's comments. They don't usually comment on the name after the baby's born.

If it's a girl she'll almost certainly be Lydia Charlotte... unless I change my mind, which is totally possible! I'm pretty sure this is a boy though and we're leaning towards Theodore. Or Daniel. Or Samuel. I've never named a boy before and for some reason I find it quite scary. I have no idea why.

I also have chosen not to share IRL but don't mind it on the net. It was so annoying last time to have family and friends constantly ask - it was a constant merry go round of, "what are you having?" then "what are you naming him?" followed by unsolicited opinions and what they would have chosen. I didn't want to tell last time but allowed my mother to guilt-trip me into it and immediately regretted it.
DH and I have totally opposite tastes in names and so it's a miracle when we actually agree. We could not come up with a single girl's name with our first so it was a good thing we had a boy! I actually just gave up and let him pick DS's first name (we handed down DH's middle name for DS's mn). However I now have veto rights on this baby so it works out.
For a boy I'm set on Caleb Vincent. I don't know why I love Caleb so much but I had a dream a couple of months ago where I had a little boy with that name and it's felt right ever since. I chose Vincent because I like it and because DH and DS both have a "V" middle name.
Girls names are so hard for me. All along I have thought it would be Lila Ruth. Ruth is my late grandmother's middle name (that part is set for sure) and I like Lila. But lately I've been having second thoughts. I'm leaning toward Analiese or Elise, maybe Stella, Jocelyn or Natalie. Maybe I'll come full circle and decide on Lila again, who knows! I think I'll decide the day of the birth or maybe after if it's a girl. The only thing is that my SIL's name is Anna; I don't want to make things complicated or have her think we used Analiese to honor her.

I don't care about sharing names online but I'm not going to share IRL this time. With my daughter we told a few people and someone said, "Then I'll hope you have a boy because I hate the name Shanna." It totally hurt my feelings. I'm not going through that again.

My husband gets to pick the name of the next kid and so far he likes Orion Gabriel for a boy and he has no clue for a girl. I think he's just hoping for a boy so he doesn't have to come up with another name.
